WCBF mentioned this in the free agent list thread.Marc Trestman has had his chance to sell himself to the University of Miami.
The highly respected two-time Grey Cup champion with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL met with Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt about that school's head football coach vacancy on Saturday, according to the Miami Herald.
A three-year CFL head and 20-season NFL assistant, Trestman started his coaching career with the Hurricanes in the early 1980s. He also has a law degree from the school.
There are reportedly two other leading candidates for the job, including Al Golden of Temple University, and University of Connecticut head coach Randy Edsall.
Miami fired coach Randy Shannon in November after four seasons.
I wish Trestman well. He has been great for our league. If he lands this gig, he would be set for life financially and professionally.
He has a law degree as well. Poor old Joe Paopao was offered the HC job at a US college, but the offer was rescinded when it was learned that he had not completed his degree.
