Not having watched the tape, here are some impressions.
...............
Defence is playing hard and well. Hyland is making a difference at safety. I was preferring to see Phillips there, but not anymore. Wally stuck with his guy Crawford for way, way, way too long, as he tends to do with his guys, as compared to dog house guys.
Alum is a stone cold killer at MLB, as is Banks at tweener. Mitchell gives us a very strong presence in the middle. Our DBs are good. Franks, Phillips, Sanchez, Marsh and Hyland.
Yonus Davis. I've been saying since we saw him dodging live bullets that I like him even better than Little Logan.
Ultra conservative game plan in first half. No points. Barely 100 total yards. LOL
Either Chap liberated the book a bit, or Lulay improvised. Lulay showed some of what we saw last year and this year. I liked him before, and I still believe in his potential. I still like Casey too, but he has a lot of baggage from coaches in his head. Kansas City, Hamilton, and now Chapdelaine. He looks quite torn between playing his instinctive style and the pocket passing style desired by Chapdelaine. Lulay might be Chapdelaine's preference.
Climie and Dunigan very critical of Buono and Chapdelaine.
Too conservative.
Playing not to lose ...
Shackles on Lulay ...
Not the QBs fault.
-- from the game day thread
Boring first half. Lulay started to make plays in the second half.
Hard hitting game. Playoff atmosphere. You could call it a defensive struggle. A classic defensive game? Nah. Not that great. The offenses were not all that challenging to the Ds for most of the game.
I thought the individual pass blocking was OK, but we were still hard hit by blitzes. IMO that is a coaching thing. 4 sacks. And Lulay scrambled very well to keep the pressure down a bit.
We'll take the win. Our hopes for success this year are still alive. Will this style of football fill the stands? Got some doubts there. Could it get us a date with Montreal or Calgary in the Grey Cup? Sure. With some breaks and good play. And with a liberated offence.
All of this is just IMO ...
