Game Day Thread - Argos @ Lions

Good. Here it is. Game Day. Another test for the Lions.

Dunno if Buono's crew will ever beat Calgary under Hufnagel, but on a given day, I think we can beat any other CFL team. The Riders are tough for us. Their defence dominates our offence. But the Argos are a team we are favoured to beat. Rightly so.

Defence should be good for us. Gotta slow down Cory Boyd, a very good running back. Gotta pressure Lemon to keep him from getting on a roll.

It would be nice if JChap has a good game plan, and calls a good game. If we have those 2 things going, I like our chances.

It is quite possible that our O Line may start to show some consistency, and some solid ability.

Yonus Davis is a very dangerous back, a protype for the CFL. It will be interesting to see what Jerome Messam can do with his opportunities to carry the ball.

Casey (or is it KC?) and the Gang could have a good passing game. That always helps.

McGrath, Newman, Gore and Lumbala. Nice.

Things seem to be picking up for the Leos.

IMO it still comes down to the offence. Can we keep the defence off balance? Can we give our QB time to make his reads?
...............

Looking forward to it.

Re: Game Day Thread - Argos @ Lions

Some weird changes on the roster.... Jeremy Geathers, just signed last week, is starting at the other end spot instead of brent johnson. Robertson taken off the active roster put on "injured" list, not the 9 game. < I believe this change was to get rolly on the roster, plus davis seems to be a little faster and elusive than robertson, but it also means that he probably won't be returning kicks this week as he is the feature back :/ Jon Hameister-Reis is set to make another start at left guard, despite the claims of back problems during the week. Newman and Haji-Rasouli are backups for Jon :P Both foster and gore on the roster for the first time this year. With the weaknesses on the argos oline, and a ferocious revitalised BC defense, I'm predicting a huge win for the lions, and the lions first home win outside the dome in almost thirty years :P ROAR LIONS ROAR ...... and please don't mess this up  :good: :juggle:

Edmonton's loss tonight should give the Lions an added incentive.

The first half of the Lions' home schedule featured Calgary twice, Saskatchewan and Montreal. Now we get Toronto, Hamilton, Winnipeg and Edmonton before finishing with Saskatchewan again. They're all winnable games. The Lions have to start with this one and keep the ball rolling.

So many things wrong with this post

Robertson has bruised ribs, he wasn't taken out to make room for lumbala

Sherko and newman haven't played all year, they can't just throw them in

Pittmans out for the year so they had to throw geathers in... Hopefully he plays only 1 game and foley takes his spot

Foster has been on the active roster the entire season behind paris jackson on the depth chart

Watch for Trestin George to be activated for tomorrow's game. He will handle some of Davis's work load on kick returns and provide insurance in case Marsh reinjures his shoulder.

I've read he actually has a cracked rib which would likely make him doubtful for next week too.

Exactly, win 3 out of the next 4 and we are breathing down the TiCats necks.

Easier said than done of course, but it starts tonight.

I am on record as having said that it would take the next three or four games to make me reconsider the Leos chances of turning this season around, depending on the fortunes of the lesser lights of this CFL season.

I don't know how to stress this enough!

We must make this a new beginning, here this afternoon at Empire. :cr:

Agreed, there really isn't much wriggle room left.

But it doesn't start tonight..... It starts this AFTERNOON.

The early start is a nice change. Although I can't help but think the earlier start favours the Argos.

Shaun Gore is on our practice roster currently because we are in the two week window for nfl cuts that other teams cannot steal our talent Wally is easing him in probably more to do with the cap than anything else. we should have beat the argos in t.o. no better time than now at empire on a beutiful day GO LIONS GO!!!

Re: Game Day Thread - Argos @ Lions

Argos only had 4 days off. I'm sure they would have preferred a later start. This should be the Lions game to win. We are so much more rested than they are.

This is true.

Then we have no excuses for a poor start.

Lets hope we run them over right from the opening whistle.

Re: Game Day Thread - Argos @ Lions

The reason I'd rather have Jesse Newman or Sherko Haji-Rasouli at left guard is because Jon Hanmeister-Reis has really struggled all year, and pretty badly at guard. Sherko and Jesse have shown that they have talent at the guard position, plus I bet Sherko has been itching to get on the field the whole year. I didn't know about Robertson's rib injury, and I wasn't sure about Foster.

Jon Hanmeister-Reis has been injured all his NFL/CFL career...time to move on for Jon now.
