............

Hufnagel 8 - Buono 0, Head to Head

Boy, that Hufnagel guy sure got lucky 8 times in a row against his "mentor."

Is it that he motivates his team better?

Does a better job in personnel matters?

Gets his players to execute better?

Has more creative and deceptive schemes?

Has better play design, game planning and play calling?

All of the above?

Or just got lucky all those times?
...............

I haven't seen any odds posted yet. Considering how they set the odds, I would say the Stampeders would be favoured by ... hmmmmmmm 7.
...............

What would it take for the Lions to win against possibly the strongest team in the CFL, at this time?

A strong running game, to eat up the clock, to tire out the Stampeders D Line and LBers, to motivate our own team, to fire up the O Line.

A very good performance from our QB.

Excellent performance from our receivers.

Fired up game by the O Line.

Win the ST battle.

Tough defence on Joffrey Reynolds.

Pressure on Burris.

Great game by DBs in pass coverage, and run stopping support.

Good game plan on O, and good play calling on O.

...........

Yeah, that could do it.

I feel the Stamps will continue their streak over the Lions. I don't think the Riders or Stamps have looked as good as they did last year but they find ways to win where the Lions/Esks. I think one of the reasons why the West has been so strong is the parity. With no parity I think it will hurt the Stamps/Riders too. It will be intresting to see how Cavillo recovers from his injury. Perhaps that Mtl/BC game will be closer than I thought.

A sad day when a Lions fan looks forward to being close to Montreal only due to Cavillo being out of the lineup. It is however the 2010 Lions reality.

Good point. It is a shame too because I've really enjoyed the Montreal games in the past. IIRC, there was one time the Lions scored over 45 points and lost! Obviously I prefer it when the Lions win but that is entertaining football. Somehow I doubt the current Lions O is going to help put 45 points on the board but

No, but the B.C. defence held Montreal to 16 points with Calvillo in the lineup last month and probably would have won the game if not for a Robertson fumble. Defensive football is entertaining too.

Key to the game for the Lions is not playcalling...it's execution ;)

LOL

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Too funny.
............

Personnel ... Tough to change that much in mid-season.

Schemes ... Not likely to be changed, since Wally always says it ain't the scheme.

Coaching ... Not likely to be changed, and not likely to help much mid-season anyway.

Execution ... MVP calibre QB performance goes a long way in the CFL. But we have had sub-par performances throughout the offence. IMO for the most part our defence has given us opportunities to win more games.

The execution will come only after the execution occurs......get it?

I like defensive football too! IMO, the problems are more to do with the Offence. I hated watching Reid run for over 200 yards in BC Place last season.

So are you betting WCJ? I doubt that I would, given the Esks ability to give the Riders a real game, most likely due to RH being the DC. Lions game is a bit of a giveme though.

Hey, Rammer.

I can't bet against the Lions. But I can't put money on them either.

If we play hard and well, it could be a good game. If we get a bit ragged, it could get ugly, for us.

I get what he's saying. No one is executing what the coaching staff wants...and when that doesn't happen...the offence looks like shYte...but the people who are in charge of the offence...shall we say are liable.
