No easy task, going into Regina, to play the Riders.
Jarious Jackson gets the start for the Lions. It is just possible that Jackson could make the difference. He is experienced, mobile and has a strong arm, although his shoulder might still not be 100%. Jackson has had his moments where he looks like a world beater, and other moments where he is terribly inconsistent.
The Riders will no doubt have a dynamic offence, with a strong passing attack, and a strong running game.
The Riders defence will probably still be dancing at the LOS, trying to throw off the Lions' blocking schemes.
A big question is will our offence look any more dangerous with Jackson at the controls than it did with Travis Lulay.
Looking forward to the game ...

I liked hearing the fear coming from Geroy in todays paper in regards to no players job is safe. I'm going to enjoy this game because I think there is a similar cloud to the one that was hanging over the winless Eskimos when they heard the 'win or else' from their headhoncho. I'm going to enjoy the game and hope the Lions win.

David Naylor Globe and Mail Update ...
Heart says Lions could surprise. Head says don't bet on it..B.C. Lions (1-5) at Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-2)
It’s hard to believe a Wally Buono-coached team could begin a season 1-6 – and yet the Lions have their work cut out for them heading into sold-out Mosaic Stadium to face the Roughriders. Veteran receiver Derick Armstrong was let go this week, and there will certainly be others who pay the price if the stumbling continues. Travis Lulay’s audition at quarterback is over after three starts, and the Lions now turn to Jarious Jackson, who is coming off off-season surgery. (Casey Printers remains in the wings due to injury.) Saskatchewan quarterback Darian Durant is apparently over the stomach illness that weakened him during the late stages of last week’s loss to Montreal.

Lions 31, Riders 21. The start of a 6-0 record in the middle third of the 2010 season.

Keys:
Turnovers
Dummy plays
Missed assignments
Score early
JJax has the keys to the offence, let's see what he can do.
And personally, I'd like to see some Messum between the tackles and Lee on toss sweeps, along with Yunis Davis.

Me too. It's wishful thinking, but I'd love to see Lee's speed on the outside.ed_lunsford wrote:And personally, I'd like to see some Messum between the tackles and Lee on toss sweeps, along with Yunis Davis.

I can't remember the last time I was less enthused about a game, especially a game versus the Riders. Hopefully I will have a reason to snap out of this funk by half time.

They could blow us out....and the offence may not be effective...but at least going into this game there is a sense of confidence in Jarious. We're asking a lot of him, he's still not fully healed, hasn't had a ton of reps, and is rusty as hell.Belize City Lion wrote:I can't remember the last time I was less enthused about a game, especially a game versus the Riders. However, at least Jarious will challenge the Riders defense..he'll try to go after them...and that approach is better than anything we've seen so far....

Funny how the O is the biggest problem but most of the O will lock in their contracts in the next couple of weeks, vs the D who is younger and will have to wait awhile for the lock in.notahomer wrote:I liked hearing the fear coming from Geroy in todays paper in regards to no players job is safe. At least JJ should know the Lions O as well as the Riders D does.Blitz wrote:They could blow us out....and the offence may not be effective...but at least going into this game there is a sense of confidence in Jarious. I am not sure that this game is a fair game to insert JJ, the Riders are going to come at him full bore and take as many shots at him as they can, knowing that getting rid of him pretty well amounts to the Lions handing over the game.

I have a good feeling about this game. We will either get absolutely smoked, in which case Buono will be forced to make changes, OR we will come out stealing a win. I'm leaning towards stealing a win...

This is one of those games that tests your fandom...you so badly want them to win, but cannot bear to watch it..but you do anyway...
