Riders think we'll have a home field DISadvantage. Okay....

So the Riders are preparing as if it's going to be rainy and quiet at Empire Field on Saturday. That's too bad.

From Darian Durant,
"With them not playing indoors, it takes away from some of their crowd noise. But whoever goes out there, if you're not playing well, the crowd will get loud, anyway.

"I don't want to say it's a disadvantage for them, but it's just going to be a little different with them not having that crowd noise.''
Some questions from Omarr Morgan,
"It is going to be a little different, but can they adjust to it? Can they adjust to not playing in a dome?

"I know those guys like to play inside. You can always depend on good weather. But it rains out there a lot. Can they adjust to it? We get all kinds of weather here. It might snow later on. We're kind of used to it, but it's going to be a real big adjustment for those guys.''
Ummm, Omarr, even if it were to rain, where do you think they practice every day, Phoenix??

We can only hope they come in here with that attitude. I honestly can't believe they are that stupid.

Rather than worry about the noise and conditions the Riders should focus on their 13th man.

Perception is a huge way to cloud one's own mind. Perhaps Omarr doesn't remember what the weather is typically like in Vancouver in July.

Perhaps Omarr is stirring the pot a little.

Didn't they just see BC beat Edmonton in the rain?

I hear the Riders are going to either search their home province for someone who can count to twelve (designated counter) or request the coaches can go shoeless for easy access to the additional 10 digits.

In the rain and on the road, we were the only road team to win.

I wasn't at the preseason game, so I can't be sure. But it looks to me like the two rooves will throw the sound out onto the field quite nicely.

Also, I take a lot of pride in hearing visiting players talk about the noise in BC Place. Even if the noise factor doesn't carry over to Empire, next year we're all going to be back in the dome, causing havoc for the visiting offensive units. :rockin:

I was at the pre-season game, and that was actually the loudest pre-season game I've been to. At the dome you could usually hear a pindrop, but with the way the stadium is built, fans can stomp their feet and it makes a really loud noise. I wonder how loud it'll be now that the games actually matter...

I've complained about all this before but.....

The Lions have football 101 a kind of football introduction for women to understand the basics of football. Well I propose a similiar course called fanofFootball 101.

Here fans can learn to make noise when the opponents are on OFFENCE

Turn into 27,000 church mice when the Lions are on OFFENCE

Realize if you need more beer or a trip to the bathroom don't sit through a television break before getting up once play has been whistled in

Get the answer that never ending question of why can't we get the wave going when our QB is on the field?

I think Riders games are the ones where we have the least amount of homefield advantage. I would have guessed the DomeField Advantage was gone at Tempire but then I attended the preseason game. Durant is going to get to hear what sounds like a train running through the stadium because thats what a homefield crowd is going to perform for him Saturday night.

What's funny about this is Omarr Morgan freely admits he has at least one teammate (Lance Frazier) who doesn't care for gameday rain. And how about this from Makowsky:
Hopefully it will be good weather. That's going to be great if it's a beautiful, sunny day. ... we'll have to not be distracted by a new stadium or a new field.''
Um, make that two teammates who'd prefer sunshine. Oh, and if you're talking about it, then it's already a distraction.

55000 feet + all aluminum seating = a noise level that should have the Riders pining for the piped in myth of BC Place.

A bit of noise. A bit of gamesmanship. Psshawww. Is that how you write it when you make that sound of dismissal? Is the Rider kind of bragging about the ferocious Regina weather? Ha ha. OK. He wins that one.

In what city (NFL or CFL) did a punt go up and forward quite a ways then float back over the punter's head? Probably Winnipeg. I heard about it somewhere a long time ago.

Every year at playoff time or even in October, it is always the same thing, "play in a dome blah blah", "not used to the elements blah blah" and so on and so forth. These guys practice outdoors, play in 6 other stadiums that are outdoors, come from colleges and universities where they play outdoors..... the speculation is so tired and unsupported by facts that you would think that even the dimmest of lights would actually have given up by now.

It is BS pure and simple.
