The 1964 BC Lions won eleven and tied two of sixteen regular season games. Led by quarterback Joe Kapp and electrifying running back Willie Fleming, the Lions won the 1964 western conference title over Calgary, two games to one.

On November 28th, 1964, the Lions defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats by a score of 34-24 to claim the Grey Cup in Toronto. It marked the first time BC had won the coveted Grey Cup.

Six members of the 1964 Lions were inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame (Norm Fieldgate, Tom Brown, By Bailey, Fleming, Kapp and Tom Hinton). Eight players won spots on the western conference All-Star team, while six were chosen for the league All-Star Squad. Brown won the Schenley Award for Top Defensive Player.
