I just uploaded this clip. The quality is crap because I captured it off VHS. ppl that STILL have a hard on for Casey Printers seem to forget that DD came off the bench and pretty much won this one. Of course O'missy needs to be credited too.

You make a great case about DD shining under pressure, coming off the bench for an injured CP, late in the 4th quarter IIRC that 2004 season.

It should be remembered that this was the first performance turned in from Dickenson since about game 3 or 4 that season. That's is a pretty huge hiatus to overcome in any pressure game let alone the WF.

Having said that DD gets some big time clutch receiving from the likes of Brazzel, LION82, and Thelwell to make that drive happen for an unlikely field goal to tie the game.

Maybe it more significant to ask yourself who was under more pressure in the last five minutes of that WF, DD with his gutsy, masterful orchestration of get the team into field goal range, or Duncan O'Maney's 47 yard field goal, having only been good on 2 out of 7 attempts outside the 40 all season long, with the game riding on his leg?

AI will add another side note on DD's appearance in that game. Roy Shivers had sat back in his seat the entire game to that point, however as soon as DD was in the game, he stood up and leaned on the railing of the box seat he was in. I am sure that he was well aware of the potential of the game to shift, and in OT, he was tossing out a mock flag on the final play for the Riders drive. The frustration of McCallum's miss had Shivers move to the back of the box quickly.

That game was incredible. Best game I've ever been to by far. I remember sitting along the goal line for that FG and just going crazy when it went through high fiving anybody and everybody around me, it was just incredible.

I have a deep fondness for the 1983 Western Final, but there is no doubt that the '04 Western Final was the most intense, exciting game ever played in that building. Watching that clip brought back some great memories. An argument can be made, though, that the Lions were emotionally spent after that thrilling game, which may explain why they subsequently coughed up a furball in the Grey Cup against a highly beatable Argo team.

I know it all worked out, but I still hate Wally's call to kick from that far out.

They didn't have a time out, as they spent it when Dickenson took a sack. Without a time out, they really had no choice but to kick the field goal. There were only 11 seconds left -- they couldn't run one up the middle, and if they tried a sideline route, and the receiver failed to get out of bounds, time would have expired.

It's funny seeing Duncan about to trot on to the field and Wally initially hold him back. Everything pointed to attempting the FG then except the coach's complete lack of confidence in his kicker. Has to be the greatest improbable play in Lions history.

That was a strange game in that CP hit Thelwell on a long TD pass on the game's second play then was held in check until a nice drive to start the 3rd quarter.

As good as DD was in the march for the tying FG ... he was even better on his first series when he hit 5 different receivers including a wheel route to Warren for the TD.

As I recall, O'Mahoney went to Wally suggesting that he could make the FG, and it was due to that confidence that Wally allowed him to attempt it. All I know is that I was as nervous on that FG as any point in time during that entire season, to make the FG with that much pressure should have been Duncan's coming out party to become a CFL allstar kicker......sadly not so much.

Probably O'Mahoney's biggest play as a Lion.

Wow. I was at that game of course but this is my first time watching any of the CBC footage. I got chills on the Clermont catch -- I forgot we gained so much (36yds) on that play -- and the tying FG.

Look closely at the Sask "S" logo on the wall behind Burris when he waves the towel around 3:20-3:25. It actually says "Sucks". :lol: Isn't that someone's avy on here?

Premature towel waving on Burris's part. He should have waited until the end of OT for that white towel waving. :lol:
