It is the quirky thing about CFL salaries and caps. Even though Lawler had a big signing bonus his base salary is still $115K. Wheatfield who they activated won't be making much more than CFL min. Lawler is on the 6G and likely stays there for the duration given he broke his arm. Subtract $115K and add $70K and Bombers save $15K n the SMS over 6 games.
Oliviera is a slightly different situation. After his signing and other hard money bonuses his base salary is $80K or $4444 per game . On their roster he comes out and Feltmate comes in. I'm guessing he's making somewhere between min and $80K so call it a wash. If Oliviera's injury is minor and he goes on the 1G it adds $4444 per game to their cap.
Net effect is the savings with Lawler going on the 6G covers 3+ games of Oliviera being replaced on the active roster by Feltmate. Only if Oliviera's injury turns out to be something to keep him out longer term will they need to go scrap-heaping for a veteran tailback. I hear Mizzell is available.

Feltmate is a former top U Sports linebacker who the Ticats tried to convert to fullback; he is not activated to replace Oliveira by position, but rather is a replacement National player; Augustine, plus draft pick Chris-Ike , will handle tailback, and unless they both bomb or get injured as well, there should be zero need to go "scrap-heaping" for a RB just because he was on a CFL roster somewhere else before; they also could bring back former draft pick RB Jon Rosery who was cut out of TC after showing some stuff in an ex. game; that plus Demski has shown ability to handle some duties as a RB.

The other side of it is they go from Kenny Lawler to 25 year old Keric Wheatfall. I'll be surprised if that is a seamless transition. Winnipeg is barely fielding a starting lineup right now. One injury and they are super done.
Comparing the depth charts for tomorrow night Ottawa is better across the board with the exception of Dru Brown less highly rated than Zach Collaros. I'm taking Ottawa to win outright.

They did have 3 receivers to choose from on their PR. Wheatfall is a physical clone to Lawler. Johnson is smaller. Murphy is similar to Wheatfall but as a NAT that would mean another NAT would have to sit.
