Wait. You mean Edmonton's offensive line holds too? Huh. That's a new one.

A very mediocre game from the offense

I’m thankful for the new ownership but boy does he have a tough challenge on his hands.

Realistically we could be 0-3 to start the season, we almost blew it against Calgary at the end.

We were picked to finish last by most media I saw. I’ve seen nothing this season to show me different.

Not sure if we win another game with Ryker and Fig injured. Without them it is 2019 all over again. Really disappointed in the defensive line tonight too. Zero pressure whatsoever on Harris and did nothing to stop the run. The trenches are a major cause for concern for this team just like 2019.

Doesn’t help that our big signings as anchors at tackle are both injured now. This has a recipe to be 2019 all over again for our offense. Our defensive line left a lot to be desired too. Zero pressure and no run stop.

Not a great showing at home.

Turning point of the game was when the Lions had the Elks pinned deep on their 2 yard line. Instead of forcing a 2 and out, the Lions let them off the hook with stupid penalties and allowed the Elks to march the length of the field to score.

Edmonton dominated the line of scrimmage on offence and defence and Trevor Harris picked apart B.C.’s zone defence with short, quick passes.

The Edmonton secondary did a great job of taking away Michael Reilly’s first read and making him wait for the second level to come open. With two backup offensive tackles in the game for B.C. and Peter Godber getting beaten up the middle, Reilly didn’t get time he had last week to pick apart Calgary’s young secondary.

The Elks were a desperate team and outplayed the Lions in all facets if the game. The one bright spot was the kicking game. Jimmy Camacho did everything he was asked to do. The rest of the team just didn’t do enough.

i have ben a Lion's fan since the "Lions Roar in '54."

Now, I live in Winston-Salem North Carolina, and stayed up until 10 pm eastern time to watch the game. ESPN II carried the TSN telecast.

The outcome was disappointing, but the Canadian game was enjoyable. I am used to watching the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

The Lion's new place kicker seemed very strong and accurate.

Hopefully, ESPN will carry more Lions games.

Or, we were a competent kicker away from being 2-1. It's all in how you look at it.

Sometimes you just lose because your opponents execute just slightly better than you.

I don't agree that the D Line didn't get pressure the entire game. There was a lot of hurries both early and late.
I don't agree that the secondary didn't perform well. The elements of the secondary that make pass coverage a game of inches simply didn't break right tonight, in a matter that was the opposite of the game against Calgyra.

I do agree, though that the loss of both tackles seriously hampered the offensive line, particularly when the game plan needed adjustment coming out of halftime and there was a switch from an intermediate pass game with minimal pre-snap motion (which I'm not a fan of) to more of a deeper passing game with longer developing routes.

The general lack of discipline is inexcusable. That was an embarrassing second quarter by all three units.

But it isn't the end of the world. This isn't last place talent. This looks and feels much more like, oh, the 2003 season than 2019. This team is going to win a cup, but neither is it going to be an utter embarrassment leaving one feeling adrift forever, either.

Scouts and coaches need to do a way better job of making sure they have oline backups that can still get the job done.

However, I am iffy as to if I have any confidence in the oline when all starters are healthy

Interesting to see Bonnie Henry making a public spectacle of herself not wearing a mask at the game. Lions should be embarrassed. The game was forgettable but this isn't.
