Really enjoyed the 1st game of the Western Final Series. Nice to see the Sedins show some life. The only thing I can do without is the cheap stuff (snow showers, after the whistle etc...). That was certainly something missing from the Predator series that I don't want to see be a big part of this series either.
When the organization reaches a certain level, players accept discount contracts (Kesler, Hamhuis, Sedins, etc.).

Also the team is able to regenerate some talented players from near oblivion (Lapierre, Higgins).

We've seen this with Detroit (Cleary, Bertuzzi).

Nice to see our little local franchise rise to such a level.
.......

By the way, not a surprise to see Yzerman turn around the Lightning. But to do so this fast is amazing.

Helps when Vincent Lacavlier, Steven Stamkos, Martin St. Louis, Hedman, Ohlund, Gagne are already there.

Yep. But they were not doing much until Stevie Y came along.

After Eager's over eagerness, I am not sure that I want to see him suspended for the hit from behind on Sedin. He just didn't stop putting his butt in the penalty box, even after the girl who flashed on screen (nice green men replacement though) was escorted out.

Now to see the Canucks play the road game that we know they are capable of and this series is over.

I did not realize Ben Eager was such a cementhead. He totally put his own emotions ahead of what is good for his team. And it seemed to affect Ryane Clowe as well.

Amazing restraint on the part of the Canucks, who immeditately started to focus on the next game.

I think Eager should get a suspension for his dangerous boarding hit on Daniel Sedin. Bettman and Campbell were in the audience for the game. So whatever decision is made or not made will certainly reflect what they think is appropriate, which is very often not what is truly appropriate.

As many have noted, however, it no doubt better for the Canucks if Eager plays for the Sharks. Eager looks like the kind of thug that even has his Sharks teammates cowed. Except for the rookie, Logan Couture, who says the game was an embarrassment for the franchise. And he had to be thinking about the selfish, stupid behaviour of Eager when he said that. It was also an embarrassment for the league. He should have been kept away from the press after the game as well. (A coach tried to restrain him from shouting at the Canucks on the bench, to no avail. His teammate Ian White tried to get him out of the crease after his goal, to no avail.)

More and more such cementheads in the NHL look out of place. The game is going in the direction of the Red Wings and now the Canucks. It's about hockey. Speed. Skill. Not lunkheads venting their emotions and anger at the expense of their team.

its a shame to see anybody hurt because of a cheap shot. driving a guy from behind head first into the boards can't be good. the league is a poorer place without the likes of Crosby for instance. who wants to pay to see Ben Eager beat up Daniel Sedin. oh well.

Eager was an example of the kind of crap I didn't want to see in this series. Like how the Canucks seem to be responding. When the Coach seems to be the one most PO'd, you know the Nucks have done their homework on whats really important. I like what Daniel Sedin had to say something to the effect of 'you act like that when you know the other team is better than you'. Not bulletin board material IMO, but hopefully the cheap stuff disappears. I think there are ways that the Sharks can make this a series but gooning isn't it, IMO.

In the 2004 Calgary Flames playoff run, at the C of Red at the Red Mile, women were flashing and exposing themselves which was displayed at flamesgirls.com. Are women in Vancouver ready to rival and match the women in Calgary? Has this woman created a starting point and inspired other women in Vancouver?

Ummm......if I posted the actual picture that showed more of her body, then it would have been definitely removed and I would have been chastised by the moderators. :wag:

In that link above, there's two pictures. You can check out the second of those pictures which is still edited but reveals a lot more. And by doing a simple Internet search, you can more of her.

Is Ben Eager the cement head or is his coach?

For me I blame the dummy coach.

Still don't understand why toothless hockey players don't show more respect for each other - I know there is far more respect in football for others (pro level) - not all but overall more. Football has a different culture - play tough but not take penalties where in hockey fighting for a penalty is a good thing. No wonder they can't sell the game in the USA like they can football. Americans don't understand it...to them the toothless brawlers are all living in the hills of a few states and in the Ozarks - not playing on national TV - and for the most part in the USA - they aren't.

I get to see the games in Hong Kong delayed but get the Versus broadcast and even their announcers were calling Eager stupid and dumb but you got to look at the coach.

The first flag of issues in Sharkland where when I read that Joe Thornton wanted to fight Ryan Kesler BEFORE the game started.

If I were the Shark GM I'd be none too happy that my coach has lost his team or if that is not the case that they are living up to the Sedin quote that that is what a team does when they can't play at your level.
