How so? We're not insulting anyone. We're having a pretty reasonable discussion about trolling, as far as I can tell. At least since Solar Max went on his little rant. Before that, we were anticipating the flood of Rider fans coming in here to tell us how bad we are, so we thought we'd get out in front of it. But, the discussion ended up happening at RiderFans.
It's a troll thread. Read the OP!
I did. Thank you. I thought it was funny, because as someone else stated, there is more than a grain of truth to what was said. Rider fans have been parrotting the words of Eric Tillman, Jim Popp, and Rahim Abdullah all year long, and the other stuff is the usual banter that Rider fans bring to this site on a regular basis.

Just thought I'd get that in. Now.....on with a fun week. I'm gonna miss having a beer under the bridge with you trolls. The free beer always tastes better when Rammer is buying.

Or perhaps it is an indication of the reputation that riderfans are getting League wide? Perhaps because it was even started in the first place, it says more about the riderfans than they want it to? Think about it. Things like this pop-up because there is possibly a thread of truth in them. Why is that every site I have gone to people comment on who is or isn't a "good" riderfan? I rarely if ever see it about any other team?
Wow. Isn't the answer to those questions not blindingly obvious??

It's because there's more of us. Especially online. Check that, Rider fans has far more ACTIVE members of online message boards. Lionbackers has 7,107 registered members to Riderfans.com's 5,328. Yet RF.com has waaaaaay more activity; 941,977 posts at RF.com to 127,530 here. Even 13thman.com doesn't compete for activity; 123,408 posts.

So the answer is pretty obvious, actually; Rider Pride's online presence is vast, and everybody else's isn't. I don't say that to be cocky, I say that as a simple fact. What, you don't think that there aren't as many, if not more, Lions fans that fit the description you are applying to Rider fans?

We are more noticeable than any other fanbase, including cyberspace, in the stadium, and at Grey Cup. Naturally the number of "bad" Rider fans will seem more than the "bad" fans of other teams simply because Rider fans are way more active online than fans of other teams.

There's a famous quote about lies, damn lies, and statistics.

A better-than 7:1 margin in activity is ridiculous, even with the same number of posters.

The answer is pretty obvious: the numbers are skewed. Either they're over a longer time period, or they're being padded/fudged, or the posts themselves are padded. I could generate an extra few thousand posts myself by doing what 120dB does - doesn't mean anything, because it's all meaningless blather.

Thank you very much for that, it kind of helps me prove my point.

LFITQ talks about a reputation Rider fans have on the internet.... well, you are proof positive that the description LFITQ is pinning on Rider fans is one that fits part of EVERY fanbase.

Fine, so we can discount that... or can we?

I see "Carl of Melrose" has over 26,000 posts... all by himself?! Is this a REAL number? Does this person have no life and spends 12 hours a day just posting crap to RF.com? ONE person on your site has nearly 1/5 the posts of this ENTIRE forum?

Something is amiss there.

Either way, it's clear your numbers are meaningless.

Carl is pretty good, he covers that site diligently with a real passion. I am sure that since RF was reconstructed a couple of times along the way, he has even more posts than that.

Yeah, but they're all pretty much NOTHING. I went over there, to see if I could get into some good, open discussion/debate about the upcoming game. And while you spout the numbers, there is NOT ONE thread, that is a good discussion. And quite frankly, from the garbage I've read in the threads I looked at, I'm not even sure if there's any point in starting one, as it seems the majority of activity on the RF site, is just complaining about everyone else, and/or *beeotch*/slagging/bashing other teams, and their fans. BC Lions are the most "talked about" at the moment, but it contains all of the previous sentence.

Now, if you KNOW of a thread over there, whereby it's just fans wanting to discuss/debate the pros and cons of both teams, the officiating, the facility, then please, give me a link to the thread. It's perfectly cool and fine to have some lighthearted jabs at one another's team/players, but I'm looking for people who want to talk FOOTBALL, not talk CRAP.

Exactly. I go over there, and seemingly any time I talked good about the BC Lions I was accused of being a troll. It's not like I was talking down about the Riders. I was banned because I was saying that next week's game is going to be a good one and a close game, while disagreeing with someone who was saying that it'll be a whitewash and Saskatchwan will be up 30 points going into the 4th quarter.

Fair enough... not knocking the guy, just saying, those kinds of numbers don't say anything about "which site has more passionate fans" when they can be skewed so vastly by just a few people.

On that note, hasn't LB.com been "reconstructed" at least once as well? Just one more way that those kinds of numbers are meaningless.

BTW, there's another site I'm on, revscene.net... check out these numbers:

Members: 48,623, Threads: 435,750, Posts: 4,743,742

Moral of the story: riceburner fans are WAY more hardcore than football fans.

I'm gonna agree with this statement (maybe not pertaining directly to Soundy but the sentiment as a generic concept).

There are twits in every fan base. I'm sure there are a few posts over on Riderfans (I don't haven't gone over there today) that I would hang my head in shame about as a Lions fan.

But if it is because there are "more" Rider fans can be questioned. It just seems that those that are more active seem to be more active in a way that does not put the majority of Rider fans in a positive light. If there are more Rider fans, then why is it that "the more" seems to be taken negatively by the rest of CFL fans? Why is it also, that those that are "more active" seem to be less able to see things without their green kool-aid or to at least take their green goggles off? I'm sure if you took a poll as to which fans have the "most obnoxious" ones (and I'm not necessrily talking "most" as in quantity), you will probably find that it is the Riders in the eyes of the rest of the CFL.

I kind of look at it this way. The Riders, for so long have been the doormat of the West. Yet year in and year out the Rider faithful have turned out. Good on them! I thank each and everyone of them as without them my Lions wouldn't be able to play either. I, as a CFL fan foremost, wish more teams had that kind of fan base!!

Yet despite the lack of success the Riders have had over the years (2 Grey Cups, no home playoff game since 1988, no home playoff victory since 1976, etc. etc.), why is it that most CFL fans feel no sympathy towards them?

Look at the situation in Hamilton right now. Here you have a team that is in similar spot as the Riders have been in in the past. Perennial losers. Yet, the feeling I get from most CFL fans is one of sympathy and pity (ok except for ArgoDave but he is a specail case ;) ). Why isn't the same feeling be put on the Riders? Shouldn't we as CFL fans be embracing the fact the Riders finally got a home playoff date, and won it? There is a reason why it is only noteworthy in Riderville and the rest of the cFL just doesn't care, I wonder what that could be?

It's more than numbers. I will agree it is about activity. The problem here that I am seeing is that it is that activity hasn't been positive for the most part. And as I'm sure, there is activity happening on riderfans.com by Lions fans (be them Lionbackers.commers or not) that is not positive. However, if you look at "activity", it may just be a simple case of retaliation for what has happened over here in the past.

And this is why condemnation of Rider Nation by Lions fans is truly meaningless.

1/5 the posts? Go back to grade 4 math, pass the class this time, then we'll talk. Carl's posts account for 2.7% of the posts on that forum.

You may want to recheck what you are quoting, as Soundy suggested that Carl has 1/5 of the posts made on Lionbackers, not RF, but I guess you were too busy brushing up on your grade four reading level to comprehend that.
