Except for his one pre-season game as well, where he was 0 - 4 IIRC. Add that to his 1 - 3 and you have a concern in the FG department. Then to pile on, he had the fumbled punt attempt vs the Riders that cost us the game in retrospect in game 1.The_Pauser wrote:Although I'd like to point out, it isn't as if McCallum was kicking all that well prior to getting hurt. I think he was something like 33% on field goals? Albeit it was only a small sample size...SammyGreene wrote:![]()
Given McCallum is already on the 45-man roster collecting a salary north of $100,000 for the season, this should almost be a no brainer. He would be highly motivated given his career is on the line as he audtions for a new team in 2010. Given Whyte has struggled of late, especially on Friday night, it doesn't set up well given the conditions he is going to be kicking in for the next three games.
We have been damn lucky for a long time relying on one Canadian born kicker to handle all the duties — to free up a roster spot. Whyte has done a solid job in his rookie season with such a workload but it's time to go back to the veteran with so much on the line.
