From what I understand, it seems that it was Luongo's return to his winning form that allowed the Canucks to win that game. They do need him running at the top of his game in order make up ground in their Division.

Well not a classic battle of the Canadian potential GT's, as Brodeur wasn't up to snuff and Luongo only really kicked it into gear after the first period was over. Canucks did capture a much needed win, with a 5 -2 victory in New Jersey. That is a great start to the 4 game Eastern road trip.

With his performance, I guess Luongo might get the nod over Brodeur as the starting goaltender for team Canada.

Brodeur is way more consistent, he simply has more on his resume and the credentials to not lose games, which is about as good as it gets for Team Canada. Luongo can play lights out, but all too often that escapes him unexpectedly. Just look at the preseason when he was looking all world, then the first game of the season and he is lite up. Sorry, Team Canada can't afford a brain cramp game, so I expect Luongo to make the roster, play some games that aren't going to affect Team Canada at a critical time, and if (IF), he continues his recent performances, he may get some quarterfinal action or better. But this is Brodeur's to lose, he would have to begin a decline that we haven't seen him do in his entire career to be replaced as the #1, IMO of course.

In the 2002 Olympics, Curtis Joseph was originally the starting goalkeeper, but gave way to Martin Brodeur after a bad performance in the first game. In 2006 Olympics, Brodeur was the starter. But the fact that Brodeur lost the quarterfinal game might be enough for him to lose his starting position.
