Um...you do know some of the people that you directed this at, right? I mean, would you really go to Rome and tell the Pope that he's saying Mass wrong?
Just asking.
How would he know some of the people here? I've been here a while and don't know any detail of anyone's background, except to say there seem to be some knowledgeable football people contributing.
The Pope thing? Yikes. The football equivalent to the Pope does not post on Lionbackers, and Lionbackers isn't the football Vatican.
Time people just treat each other with equal regard here.

1. a figure of speech in which two unlike things are explicitly compared, as in “she is like a rose.” Compare metaphor.
2. an instance of such a figure of speech or a use of words exemplifying it.
Oh and...treating people with respect was the primary message in my post, which it looks like you missed. Perhaps if someone is new, they might take some time to read and learn before criticizing others, rather than presuming the people here have less knowledge than the new poster himself/herself has?

Yikes. Not sure how you got that first part out of what I wrote. That is clearly not what I said, nor what I wrote, or even insinuated.
Hey, this new poster has been criticized in this thread and he didn't question anyone's football knowledge, he only defended his own football knowledge - that's all. He may have questions Mightybuck's loyalty to BP, just as some questioned his loyalty to Wake. Of course Mightybuck has led by example with his recent posts, and we probably all can be more respectful of each other thanks to MB.
Anyway, I don't see how he directed anything to anyone with this:

I certainly don't think any "Pope" on here was offended.

It wasn't anything I said that was edited, just a couple of lines someone else wrote in response to me, and I quoted that person's same line. So you can't see what I was responding to.
But after that, he sat back and:

OK just have to ask again are one of you Jacques?? C'mon guys this is for an friendly exchange of ideas, I don't recall anyone asking for coaching credentials or proof of being an expert on the game to be on this site. If so we have coaches and experts trashing the O line , D line, both QB's the secondary (my favorite), the RB's, the LB's, the receivers the OC and the head coach. If all of this is from experts then we might as well blow up the team cause it's really broke! Also if you know it all , why not send you resume to Winnipeg? Can't we all just get along

Yeah I think we CAN get along. We're all here for the same reason-because we support and love the Lions.

I also think that some of the newer posters should be aware of the standing that some of the 'regulars' have here, and show a little respect sometimes. I don't care how much or how little people know about the game or the team, or who they know. I do care how we treat each other, though! Be nice!

if someone is going to call me out, i will ALWAYS respond, maybe the person that called me out and told me i didnt know what i was talking about should have respected others instead of creating a mess. As i have always said, i dont start crap, i finish it. I was a lionbacker before there was a site, or for that matter the internet, as i was a lionbacker when i was 7. for those who dont kno me that would have been 85. I dont try to start crap, but wether it be online or on the street i dont take ppl talking me down, we're in an online forum and everyone has opinions, so maybe its better just not to assume anything about ppl as it obviously starts crap

Not that their skill set is the same. like if u look at the edmonton game, the only times pierce was able to move down the field was when logan broke a big run, or that crazy eski that kept getting roughing the passer penalties. I think ppl just think of buck's first year here, where he was awesome, but after that he's been mediocre at best.
I can't believe I am actually replying to a poster with a name that reminds me of "mydaddyisbiggerthanyours"!!!!!!! Not sure if you are a BC Lion fan or just a Cam Wake fan with that name as there are 12 guys on defence at any one time and not just Wake.
I know like others do that football from the stands is about the easiest game ever played as you get lots of time between plays to second guess and critique. At times, we risk getting so analytical we forget the talent that is being displayed by both teams.
If you were to respectfully and completely look at Buck's record since he came to the Lions and put the mediocre on one side of a scale and the good to great play on the other, you'd realize how well he has performed in a Lion's uniform.
The damage he got from poor blocking and the unhealed injury (I assume it was unhealed) has put him behind Jackson at the moment but he will be a terrifically successful CFL QB for many years to come even if that train doesn't really get untracked in the next few games.
Buck Pierce didn't become "brittle" as some suggest or like "glass". I think some of this comes from the stories of his toughness that came out of his university days and many were posted here. Injuries happen in football and it takes time to heal and while that is ongoing some other gets your job.
By all these standards of assessing performance, Anthony Cavillo would have been long gone out of the CFL and doing something else instead of hauling down a top CFL pay package and thrilling Als fans well after most QBs have retired!!!!!!!
I'll disregard your posting on my being a fan or knowing about football, as i have played, well, for years. just cause of my name does not mean that cam is the only guy i dig on the leo's. But I'm sorry i'll also have to disagree with you on bucks penchant for getting injured. He's damn near always injured so you'll just have to accept the comments that hes made of glass, like martin havlat of the chicago blackhawks. There are some players who will just never make it thro and entire season, and that just sucks for them, as then end up being players that coaches cant figure they can count on because they never suit up for every game.
As I said earlier, Buck's first year was great, but ever since it has been mediocre, theres really nothing you can say to push away that FACT. Trust me when i say that i know what i am talking about when it comes to football, i have years in the game and i usually watch each lions game 4-5 times, analysing each play and the overall game plan. Of course there is talent on both sides of the field, and that talent has increased exponetially in the west this year. When it comes down to it, the lions are really the only team that didnt make big upgrades in the offseason.
Too funny. For a guy disregarding a point you sure go to great lengths to brag about your superior background. Too bad your name here suggests that you regard only Cam Wake and not the rest. You may have played but it is quite obvious you learned very little doing it. The only thing mediocre here is not Buck's play but your analysis and your name. If Buck was "mediocre" better football folks than you seem to be would not have signed him to a significantly improved contract nor would he even be in a Lions uniform. That shows how very little you actually know. If you played football as you suggest, you'd not be posting that drivel.
PS: If you want to use big words and use them erroneously, it might help you to use your spell checker.

damn, thats just ignorant, especially after my last post, if u have something detrimental to say to me, say it to my face, i'll meet u anywhere u want, but hiding behind your computer and attacking me is pure *poop*

How about people at least try to lead by example in how they post here. Attacking him only escalates the problem.
The dude is allowed to be a fan of Wake's, his name is in fun. He is allowed to tell us he played football and knows the game, nowhere did he hack down other's knowledge of the game. He thinks Buck is glass, so what? He's allowed to have that opinion! I don't share it, but can't he have that opinion?
So he should just trust the Lions management and coaches for their decisions, and not question them? I got called out for defending Lions management and coaches for their decisions! It cant go both ways! How about letting anyone have an opinion. But let's make sure we ADD our opinions with out having to SUBTRACT anything from other posters.
Example: "Ok, thats your opinion, but here's mine."
Instead of: "You are full of it, you are wrong, here's my opinion."
I haven't been purrfect in that, but only seeing this silly dance a few times has made me figure this out. Once again, I reference Mightybuck's recent posting about being respectful.

Oh please. Now the bottom of the barrel has been reached. Nobody is hiding, and I would hope that people here value their time and dignity more than thinking that an online disagreement should be settled "the old fashioned way".
Deep breath everyone.

agreed, but i'll only take crap for so long from a coward.
as for my name, my names on other sites are such as bertuzzirocksyerface or luongo 4prez, in no way does that make me only a bertuzzi fan or luongo fan or wake fan, i dont have any idea how anyone could assume that, especially since wake isnt even my favorite player, tho he is one of the top 3. I appologize for the above post, but seriously, i know that guy isnt gonna get bashed by a mod, i will, from this point on, i will never read a post done by Toppy Vann. So direct whatever crap you want man. I'm calling this truce now, dont darken my door.
