Uh oh....since LEO will have an ally, then Gopher will need some help too. Maybe he will bring some allies too in the form of:

An article in today's Regina Leader-Post about how Gainer is welcome to BC Place.

Gainer didn't seem effective at all as he just stood by the Roughriders bench for most of the game. And too bad the Trailblazers didn't show up.

This topic was discussed extensively last year. Now that the Lions will be meeting the Roughriders yet again, I wonder if Gainer will make an appearance again this year.

And I wonder if these girls (and guys  ) will also come to BC Place as they did not for the WDF in 2004 and 2006.

No. This is Vancouver. This is BC Place. It's our house and we invite the guests and the 'Rider mascot and cheerleaders are NOT welcome.

More spirit to the game IMHO, can't have enough of it when there are 55+K in the Dome.

All in good fun as Leo should have an onversized bazooka like gun to his arsenal for gopher hunting.

Gotta like the Gopher in. Bad karma otherwise. Plus Gainer will have no impact on the loud Lions crowd.

Yeah, except they got our wins-loss-tie totals wrong. 13-5?!?!? And it was written yesterday, after the semi-final.

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we 14-3-1? Baaahahahaha!! I guess 13 isn't as far away from their season record as 14 is.

No, that article was NOT written yesterday. It was written LAST YEAR after the 2006 West Division Semi-Final.

Heheh.. Brings up a mental image of Gainer, laid on his back, with Leo standing with one foot on Gainer's chest, Leo pounding his own chest, and growling stright up into the air. Of course, we'd have to use that canned noise we're famous for, so that everyone would get to hear Leo roar.

Now what would be really cool, would be to get all the Lions' fans to "growl" when they see Leo pounding his chest, "growling". Wouldn't mean anything, wouldn't do anything to the 'Riders team, but damn, it would be a cool thing to get arranged. OK, the Gainer on the ground thing probably wouldn't happen either, but hey, we get Leo onto the field, centre-stage, and when he pounds his chest, we ALL growl.

Ahhh, right. Sorry, was just reading the issue date. Didn't notice the disclamer before the article. Just went straight into the article.

Frankly, I'm surprised that that old RL-P article is still available for free viewing — and from a year-old link, no less.

Robbie, bless his heart, is well known among lb.com regulars for his tendency to resurrect old threads. I could include some links here of other examples where he's done this, but that's more his thing, too.

Yeah, and his photo links are broken now :)

Funny how current the old thread still is... anyone feel like photoshopping Kent Austin into a bridesmaid's dress?
