He got good passing and YAC yardage with WPG despite the number of other guys pickiing up passes in their system.
Bailey is more athletic than he gets credit for and had a very good year when Lawler played in Edmonton. He would benefit any team that signed him including the Lions.

It will be an interesting game tonight for the Argos and personally wondering if the locker room is not quite in sync with Dinwiddie in charge. They lost a lot of leadership from last season and imo the release of Bailey and Albert Awachie had more to do with fitting in than their play on the field.

Big game for Calgary as well who would love to win. Theoretically they have a good chance.

There were some rumblings to a possible locker room issue re: Bailey's release. No idea if there was any substance to that. Regardless he may have lost in the numbers game. With Sindani, Ungerer and top draft pick Mital along with Brissett and Neild on the IR Toronto seems to want 2 NATs starting. For Americans they have Daniels, Coxie and and an emerging young talent in Polk.

What makes me wonder about the release of Bailey is the timing. In his last game as an Argo he was listed as backup to RB McMahon in one of the field SB positions. Then day before their next game, about the time rosters would be declared, he gets released. Mid-season releases of vets typically come to light shortly after a game, not on the eve of. Sindani was listed in his spot with Ungerer at field WR. Has me wondering if he found out he was going to sit out that game and went all ballistic on Dinwiddie. Most coaches can handle a player chewing them out.......as long as they don't cross a line.

Awachie? He's no Sean Millington or perhaps even David Mackie. He lasted as long as he did in Saskatchewan based on his special teams efforts. In 44 games with the Riders over 6 years he produced 10 catches for 79 yards and has yet to register the first rush of his career. He's basically a soon to be 32 year old journeyman special teamer who is easily replaceable.

Could Rasheed Bailey be a victim of the guaranteed vet contract date fast approaching and availability of other younger players with less expensive salaries?

I think that for the Lions both Marcus Sayles and Dominick Rhymes, not victims of the guarantee date, but rather the Lions just having some younger less expensive players to put on the field in place of the veterans.

Yes and no. Yes it could be a factor but a release didn't have to happen that soon. He had to stay on the roster thru until today for his contract to be guaranteed. Yesterday's game was the Argo's 9th. For vets of Bailey's length of service (6 years or more) they have to be released prior to their club's 9th game or their contract becomes guaranteed.

For vets of 5 years service, including current season, contracts are guaranteed after 10 games

For vets of 4 years service, including current season, contracts are guaranteed after 11 games.

For vets of 1 to 3 years service, including current season, there are no contact guarantees but if they are released after their 14th game they continue to receive medical benefits up until the day before the first day of the next season's training camp.

Yes, I wonder with all the players that left the good ship Argonaut after losing the East Final to the then pretenders to greatness the Alouettes what was going on there especially at the end with Chad Kelly and no QB coach in Mike Miller for those crucial final games of the year. Miller is there again this season but his absence was noted by fans as leaving Kelly high and dry as he was at the bench on the ipad every seasons for the entire year but not the most crucial times.

Also, I found it sort of odd that no one defended Chad Kelly when this first surfaced but maybe they knew it was a law suit coming so that would keep them quiet.

In the hours/day of Rourke's demise it seems Canadians and CFLers were getting tossed out by the MNFL

Speaking of releases by the Falcons, they also decided to get rid of last year CFL star Austin Mack who was third on the depth chart at WR.

Los Angeles Chargers release Canadian QB Casey Bauman
By 3Down Staff -August 12, 2024
Bauman was raised along the border in Sumas, Wash. but qualified for Canadian citizenship through his mother, Kelli, who was born in Abbotsford, B.C. He was added to the 2024 CFL Draft in early March after receiving his citizenship, though he went unselected.
Bauman was released alongside receiver Praise Olatoke, a Nigerian-born, Scottish-raised athlete who used to run track at Trinity Western University in B.C.
