35 yard punt return average? Did I hear that right? Yikes.
Yep....any chance that is a reflection of a new coach who is pretty green?
Hope not. It's preseason. A few of the players playing this afternoon will be gone by next week
Yes, and they’re mainly rookies who have had only six days of camp and almost no live contact on special teams. Both teams have had big returns, and the Esks are playing their veterans.

Another pick.

Offense continues struggling.

Apodaca intercepted by ex-Lion Josh Johnson. Apodaca is now 5 of 14.

Pick by Johnson.

Apodaca not looking good. My read -> too much thinking with JJ's complicated, difficult-to-run offence.

Will Reilly shine in it?

Lion interception nullified by a roughing the passer penalty

Yes. Everything is dictated by the defence. Read and react. If the defence gives a 5-yard pass, that's what you take. It's not an efficient, aggressive CFL offence.

JJ's offence --> Complicated and sophisticated is not always better.

I can hear it now: ''They have to make the reads and progressions.''

Hard to Run. Easy to Defend.

Cottoy and Herd seem to be making strong cases for sticking around.

That won’t help with growing the fan base.

Speaking as a marginally knowledgeable fan, what’s stopping a defence from doing anything other than giving up that short pass all game long?

Makes for brutal viewing...
