And oh yeah, it's never sunny over here in BC. It rains all year long. We have no idea what the sun looks like.
Funny thing is from June 1 through September 30 Vancouver's climate is dryer than Regina's. According to The Weather Network Regina averages 215mm of precipitation through those 4 months compared to Vancouver's 187. In fact for those 4 months Vancouver boasts the least average precipitation in the CFL. From October on though we have issues.
And if David's stats are to be believed, it is even drier on Lions gamedays since the Dome opened up.
Now that I don't live in Quesnel do I need to change my handle??

I hear ya there, man. I mention a gallon of milk these days to anyone and it's like the end of the world is nigh.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Disadvantage this riders!

I think we should adopt what the soccer fans in South Africa have done, purrfected the use of our CFL horns and we should get the loud buzz going.

That would get into their heads and scare the *poop* out of 'em.

Did anyone listen to the TEAM1410 post-game show? They were playing interviews from both sides - BC and Sask. There was this giant tool in the Regina media, who kept asking Rider players variations on this same question, "so all week long they were saying out here how loud it was going to be (dripping with cynicism). Noise didn't seem to be a problem for you. Was it?" Must have heard it asked five times (Darian Durant, Gene Makowsky, Wes Cates....).

Well no numbnuts, when the crowd isn't given much to cheer for and the opposing team continually beats your D on 2nd and long, noise generally isn't a factor. :bang:

That said, the atmosphere when the players ran out onto the field was absolutely electric, almost playoff-like. And nearly everyone was in their seat at kick-off, unlike BC Place where people seemed to like to stroll in half-way through the first quarter.

They seemed to WANT to talk to Rider players rather than take calls from Lions fans on the postgame show for some reason.

Did Moj pee in 10hockey's pickles again maybe? Because he knows that the call should have far higher priority than Rider players and media.

I always found the concept that one could actually pipe in noise through BC Place's notoriously brutal sound system and accoustics to be ridiculous. Maybe it was done when they were getting 15000 rattling around in the Dome just to create a level of ambient sound. But that was a decade ago. With crowds moving up into the 30000+ the aforementioned system and accoustics would render the concept useless. Just a waste of perfectly good electricity to try IMHO.
The really funny part for me is the Riders ADMITTED they practiced in Mosiac using 'piped in noise' to ready themselves for a game in BC Place. So there is PROOF one team is capable of pipe in noise at their home stadium and its not the Lions. I'm of the opinion that neither team/stadium bothers as both teams have loud fans and would be a waste of electricity as Hambone says.
Yup the RIders put up big speakers on the sidelines during practice, which in a real game just might be noticed! so ha ha funny. Maybe you might want to know the fact to your proof.

Have to agree with the earlier post that with 30,000 people in an enclosed space, piping in noise is a useless concept. Heck even the 5000 rider fans at the old dome sounded like 20,000 people. Comparing Taylor Field vs TEmpire and it is way louder in Regina. And while I understand and support the role of mascots, crazy pete's to encourage fans, the announcer thing is just so awful. One thing I noticed last night was that the music was being played for a short bit after the beak of the huddle. Did not notice that at the Dome, nor at at other stadiums, the cut off guy needs to be a little faster.

I had a Lions fan next to me going blue in the face early in the game pleading with the other Lion fans to shut up when the Lions were on O.

No doubt the Riders took the crowd out early. All in all I thought the crowd seemed quiet from both contingents. As quiet as the BC crowd was the Rider contingent also seemed far less noticable than they'd were in BC Place. Maybe that's because there seemed to be far fewer of them and they were very much scattered. There was no big sea of green in one corner or the other like we'd see at the Dome.

The main factor is the lack of a roof. In the Dome even a few thousand determined people can make the place sound loud.

I can't say for EVERY huddle but I will admit I noticed music being played after the Rider huddle broke a few times in the second half. Thanks for reminding me cuz I wanted to check out the rule on that....

It was 10-7 at the end of the 1st. and 13-10 until 5 min left in the 3rd.

What kind of fans drop out down 10-0 in the first and don't get back into it down by 3 by the time the 2nd starts?
