The worst thing to have done was to throw him to the wolves with so much pressure riding on him to perform under the circumstances of the occasion, when both Green and Anderson have a vast pool of experience between them, and were available to play.
I am not knocking the kid’s potential nor the fact he may well become the next Geroy Simon, but rather I endorse what has been said in his favor, just that now was just not the right time to started him.
So, you think Lyle Green - a RB by trade with basically zero game experience as a receiver and all the finesse required there - running routes, etc., or Anderson - definitely showed very good receiver skills in the past, but hasn't even been on the roster all year, would not be up to speed with the current play-book, and who knows if he is in game shape now, should deserve the start over a guy who has been practicing the position all year with the team and who was an accomplished receiver in college ball? - could be i guess.
I don't think you have to worry much for the future on this one though - my guess is that Hetherington's all of 2 drops plus a couple of other gaffs will have sealed his fate for very little playing time for Wally in the future.
