This is a sinking ship and Wally is still the Captain.

Yeah sure, run Casey Printers out of town and look what we've got now
When did Casey Printers become a running back?

I missed the memo again I guess. I need to be on a 120db/fd45 need to know basis or something.

Bolt? Oh, NUTS!
Was somebody suggesting a conspiracy theory from the NFL, trying to undermine the CFL? :fishing:

Nothing against Logan, God knows I don't want to lose him, but I just can't see a guy that small sticking in the down there, at least not as a running back. But maybe he could become the Gizmo Williams of the NFL. But with large enough rosters and enough money to spend I guess Pittsburgh can afford to keep him around just to return kicks.

The problem for the Lions is we can't afford to wait to see if he survives training camp in Pittsburgh.

I agree with others who say the 1 + 1 contract is nothing but harmful to the CFL. Makes the league a farm system for the NFL. I think the CFL and CFLPA need to look at a restricted free agency system that takes into account a player's age or years of service and work out a formula that won't see players just using the CFL as a way of getting a highlight reel together.

Agreed big-time with your last paragraph.

Not going to change though IMO - the thinkers running CFL teams now don't see anything wrong with the current situation and integrity of the CFL is not a big concern for them.

Said this before - the NFL could make the CFL some sort of de facto farm system for them if they really wanted to - IF they had wayyyyy more respect for CFL players and scouted the CFL a lot more seriously - proven CFL players - at all positions - often blow away, talent/football skills wise IMO, NFL back-ups or mid to late round draft picks that the NFL look at every year; maybe that's the way it's headed now - the NFL looking a lot more closely at CFL talent to bring in for TC competition - we shall see.

Gizmo, IIRC, lasted one season in the NFL.

ooops forgot about that... I was referring to Gizmo's role on the Eskimos, a career kick return guy.

I hope Stefan gave this some serious thought. I don't begrudge him for pursuing his dream, but he had a pretty good thing going here: he was becoming a fan favorite, people were buying his jersey, we were about to design an offense around him, and he was due for a big raise. Now he's going to put in long-ass days studying film, practices, team meetings, workouts etc. and may not even see the field all that much, or may even end up on the practice roster like he was on the Dolphins.

Not to mention, how many players have we seen go down there and things are just never quite the same for them once they get cut.....and he doesn't even have the big signing bonus to show for it!

Hey, he could go to the Steelers and totally blow everyone away. Who knows? But his body type on a smaller field with bigger players doesn't give me reason for optimism. Sure, there are obvious Darren Sproles comparisons, but he just seems a little bigger and sturdier than Stefan to me.

Less than a full season actually - cut by that genius Buddy Ryan from the Eagles mid-season.

Anyways - got what he meant - i took it to mean he could become the Gizmo of the NFL - ie. a little guy & a dominant returner like he was in the CFL - pretty far fetched high hopes i guess, cause Giz was IMO about the best return specialist in the history of the game - either side of the border.

Greetings from the Steeler Nation. I dropped in here to learn something about the newest Pittsburgh Steeler. Message boards tend to tell more about a player than the sports page does.

Logan will most likely see field time as a kick off/punt return guy until the Steelers see how he will handle himself.

Logan said Pittsburgh wanted to use him on 3rd downs. Except there's a problem with that..you don't use a scat-back on 3rd and 1!!

Welcome CT, that is where we expect him to end up. Without having any signing bonus he is in tough to find a roster spot. We have seen a few CFL players avoid the mini camps without a significant signing bonus as they know that they are an after thought, especially if a draft pick is added to their position. Really Logan can do it, he is made for a wider CFL field and the speed vs the power that the NFL demands. One thing for sure, if he does get the touches as an RB, there will be plays that you will say to yourself "wow did I just see him do that". Enjoy and don't spoil him in Steel Town.
