There's no doubt whatsoever that opposition D's attempt to injure Lions qb's; it started with the 2004 season, and continues now.
Fred Perry, Trey Young, John Chick, the list goes on.

LMAO. Like someone who posts under the name "mightybuck" is going to be a picture of impartiality.
You can throw out as many stats as you want, Buck has been brittle and nothing more than a backup for the last three years. He got injured in the first game of the season by simply throwing the ball! JJ may not have the same numbers but he has the ability to take a hit, throw deep and won more games last season than Buck has his entire career.
And FWIW, I have no problem supporting Buck if he produces. I just find it laughable how he has a mediocre outing and all of a sudden the call in shows are asking whether he should be the starter. IMO, he's done nothing to deserve even the consideration at this point.

Never said I wasnt bias, I am very bias. Just stating the facts - Buck has had a far better passing ratio than Jarious - period

Yes Buck has been 'brittle' but you cannot deny then when he is not injured he has shown more talent then Jarious. For however durable Jarious is, and how strong an arm he has, he has consistently had trouble throwing short and medium-length passes. That's not acceptable for your starting QB.

This guy has it spot on. Buck's an OK QB, same as jarious, tho jarious is built like a linebacker and can absorb a hit instead of buck "made of glass" Pierce. I saw nothing overly great about Buck's game on friday, he seemed as inept at getting the ball moving as jarious. he had what, 6 2 and outs in a quarter and a half???? one sustained drive that was basically all stefan logan and a couple catches by clermont at the end of the game. I agree with this guy (above) and when it comes down to it all, the only thing that matters is winning. Jarious is a winner, he's 13-4 as a lions starter, buck cant even come close. Mightybuck seems to be obsessed with BP in a somewhat unhealthy way. Its like the drones of ppl that sit in the stands and repeat the same thing all night, sorry, we cant just "Give it to Geroy" on every play.

I don't think they are the same except in attitude. They both seem to be aware that a QB-contreversy is the last thing this team needs. Jarious has looked good at times, I don't think Bucks got the chances to prove himself, yet.
As for the 'drones' of ppl... I've heard a few of those myself. There is one guy in my area (sec18) who wants the ball thrown to Clermont on every play (and Clermont is my favourite reciever too but it does get boring listening to how EVERY ball should be thrown his way).

When i said the same i was refering to the comment that they are both OK QB's. Not that their skill set is the same. like if u look at the edmonton game, the only times pierce was able to move down the field was when logan broke a big run, or that crazy eski that kept getting roughing the passer penalties. I think ppl just think of buck's first year here, where he was awesome, but after that he's been mediocre at best.

I can't believe I am actually replying to a poster with a name that reminds me of "mydaddyisbiggerthanyours"!!!!!!! Not sure if you are a BC Lion fan or just a Cam Wake fan with that name as there are 12 guys on defence at any one time and not just Wake.
I know like others do that football from the stands is about the easiest game ever played as you get lots of time between plays to second guess and critique. At times, we risk getting so analytical we forget the talent that is being displayed by both teams.
If you were to respectfully and completely look at Buck's record since he came to the Lions and put the mediocre on one side of a scale and the good to great play on the other, you'd realize how well he has performed in a Lion's uniform.
The damage he got from poor blocking and the unhealed injury (I assume it was unhealed) has put him behind Jackson at the moment but he will be a terrifically successful CFL QB for many years to come even if that train doesn't really get untracked in the next few games.
Buck Pierce didn't become "brittle" as some suggest or like "glass". I think some of this comes from the stories of his toughness that came out of his university days and many were posted here. Injuries happen in football and it takes time to heal and while that is ongoing some other gets your job.
By all these standards of assessing performance, Anthony Cavillo would have been long gone out of the CFL and doing something else instead of hauling down a top CFL pay package and thrilling Als fans well after most QBs have retired!!!!!!!

I'll disregard your posting on my being a fan or knowing about football, as i have played, well, for years. just cause of my name does not mean that cam is the only guy i dig on the leo's. But I'm sorry i'll also have to disagree with you on bucks penchant for getting injured. He's damn near always injured so you'll just have to accept the comments that hes made of glass, like martin havlat of the chicago blackhawks. There are some players who will just never make it thro and entire season, and that just sucks for them, as then end up being players that coaches cant figure they can count on because they never suit up for every game.
As I said earlier, Buck's first year was great, but ever since it has been mediocre, theres really nothing you can say to push away that FACT. Trust me when i say that i know what i am talking about when it comes to football, i have years in the game and i usually watch each lions game 4-5 times, analysing each play and the overall game plan. Of course there is talent on both sides of the field, and that talent has increased exponetially in the west this year. When it comes down to it, the lions are really the only team that didnt make big upgrades in the offseason.

So, who won the starting job coming out of training camp according to Wally? IIRC, it wasn't JJ. I wrote off "Incompleterson" who is now a go-to reciever for the Eskimos. I'm not writing off JJ and I'm certainly not writing off Buck.

What's the deal with Peterson anyway? I used to always think of him as little more than a waste of a uniform and pads. Now he's the second coming of Brian Kelly. What happened that he, seemingly, suddenly got good?

He got with a team that had a receivers coach that could help teach him how to hang on to the ball when the QB throws it at his hands or chest.

So, we have Mike Kelly (a Bluffton College Hall of Fame inductee BTW) to blame!

Um...you do know some of the people that you directed this at, right? I mean, would you really go to Rome and tell the Pope that he's saying Mass wrong?
Just asking.
