While some think he would be awesome with a different OC, we'll see how many OCs and coaches in this league will agree. My prediction is that NONE of the PROFESSIONAL football people in the CFL think he is worth another shot.

So back to the motivational speaking. Looks like he might have gotten a head start on that new career with Wilson the other day.
How exactly did the experiment not work? Casey performed better than any of our other QB's in his time here. He was our best QB last year in his limited time, and he had a 4-4 record as a starter this year (on a team that's 5-9). He's been our best QB this year, so if this "experiment didn't work" then what do you say when assessing the other QB's we have?

I'm not ready for Lulay as our unchallenged starter. He seems to be a small ball prototype. I guess we will know more by the end of the season.

As for Wilson, the man has too many lives. He is what some people call a progress stopper - just good enough to hold a spot, but in doing so he stunts the growth and development of younger more gifted players. If at this point in the season we are dumping Printers, certainly one of the young guys (Gore?) can replace the mighty O Wilson.

For all we know Printer's temper tantrum could have continued behind the scenes; in the locker room or on the flight home.

:whs:

Nothing personal, Wilson. But aside from one nice TD reception in your first year here, you seem to have done nothing. Don Matthews always said if you are not living on the edge, you are taking up space. And that is what you are doing.

Time for Gore or Foster to get some playing time.

It did, apparently. Lowell Ullrich had this report in Wednesday's Province:
There was nothing Buono or his coaches could do but watch them implode on the field and in the locker-room afterwards. A day later, he only could state the obvious.

"The whole thing is sad," he began. "If there's anger, then show me when it really counts. Don't show it to me in the locker-room when it's over. Who cares? Does losing hurt you more than the rest of us? If you care more, then you should do more. Throwing your helmet in the locker-room is garbage."

The frustration associated with the game's final play, in which quarterback Casey Printers and receiver O'Neil Wilson got crossed up on a route, resulting in an interception, clearly had after-effects. But the Lions acted like frat boys on frosh week at numerous points earlier. Buono referred to Printers' poor play, a penalty for excessive celebration to Yonus Davis and the ejection of Khalif Mitchell as pivotal.

You can't use that type of argument when you also think WB should be fired. If personal record vs the team should keep CP's job, then Wally's record vs the league should keep his.

Absolutely. If CP goes, others that aren't the future should go too.

Re: Breaking News... Printers cut!

Move on Pauser, you've had more than your 2 cents on how good Casey is/was.

Bottom line, he's unemployed and unless the Bombers want him, he'll remain just that. It's too bad, like I mentioned before, i was a big fan of his, until the end of the Winnipeg game.

Emotion is one thing, sure you love to see it in our team. But crying like a baby and throwing a tantrum hardly speaks to leadership. I'll always remember 2004 and I'll always try and forget 2010.
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

Why not? What does Wally's record in the 1990's have to do with his record TODAY? Wally as head coach this year is 5-9. In games that Casey has started this year he is 4-4. In games where another QB has started this year we are 1-5.

Do you have more of a problem with what Casey did than with what Khalif Mitchell did? Or Davis Sanchez?

Re: Breaking News... Printers cut!

Pauser, frankly I don't care that much anymore. But CP is gone and the other 2 are still here.

Looking forward to Reilly now to be honest with you.

WB's record in the 90's counts. Wally's record in the 2000's (which you strangely excluded in favour of the 90s) counts. Wally's record this year counts. Same goes for CP - unless it's the Pauser formulating an argument, then you get to pick and choose.
Now tell me which years do you want to include, and which do you wish to exclude in evaluating Casey? Granted, coaches can coach longer than players can play, so to be fair shall we toss out the first half of WB's career and the first half of Casey's? Yikes, that doesn't look good for CP, does it?

Ok, WCJ and WCBF.. I'll stop arguing with Pauser, he gets the last word :P

Re: Breaking News... Printers cut!

Hambone wrote:There can be lots of truth to the adage of "addition by subtraction". I was neither a staunch supporter of Printers nor a detractor. At the start of the season I put myself in the "I'm from Missouri" Camp. He had to show me he was capable of being BC's QB of the present and future. Other than an occasional play here and there he failed in that regard. His little blowup on Wilson at the end of the game may have been the final straw but there had to be more to the move than that. You don't make such moves at this stage of the season based on a single incident. My guess is there have been other problems within the locker room brewing since Lulay was given the starting job. I have no problem with the move.

It can be said that Lulay hasn't exactly been tearing up the league and in that regard hasn't been much more productive than Printers. However clearly while everybody has been hoping CP Version II in BC would play like a reasonable facsimile of CP Version I circa 2004 he really has proven to be not much different than the Hamilton Ti-Cat version. In that regard it becomes a very simple decision for Buono. If in his opinion the Printers we've seen in 2010 is as good as it's going to get, and there has been no evidence to indicate otherwise, then it's time to close the book on him and move on. Lulay at least shows to have upside and potential to continue to progress at the position. He is a better manager of the game. 2004 was 7 seasons ago. Printers has only regressed since then and I don't see any signs of him turning things around. I think Wally found himself at a point where he had to ask himself if Printers could ever return to form and lead this team and the answer became no. Lulay at least gives him a maybe.

THIS is an excellent post.

Adios Casey, meanwhile..

Well, to be sure there will be venting for and against Printers being released, however what has not changed is we play the Esks with a whole lot on the line.

I could be wrong, but I think we now have two open Roster slots:

-Casey Printer's slot

-Jamal Lee's

Anyone have any idea who will fill them? It seems to me there is a plethora of Wr's already, as well as Running Backs, we really do not need a Defencive Back or Linebacker.

So who fills the spots? two Defensive linemen maybe?
