Re: So, now what??

Dave Ritchie was at the Hamilton game and I pretty sure that Dave and Sharon are heading to B.C. for this weekend. Dave has been following the CFL this season very closely. I have watched a number of games w/ him this season and he calls me for links to the games to watch on line. I'm sure that if the right position were to become available Dave would be back in the CFL. Wally is not going anywhere til he has Don's record. I hope the team can turn the corner.

Thanks for the insight.

It was a treat to see Dave at practice yesterday. I am sure Wally will greatly enjoy the chance to talk football with him. Wally no doubt really misses the wise counsel of the elder statesmen: Bob Ackles, Bob O'Billovich and Dave Ritchie.

Re: So, now what??

I saw B Johnson interviewed by Taylor on Connected last night. Confidence is now a problem (apparently). But, BJ thinks it will go away with a win. I really like both these Lions-spots on Connected (Tuesdays/BJ and Wednesdays Guillo). It was easy (I'm guessing) to come chat with Taylor when you're fighting for first every year, but it has got to be tough considering how the seasons gone so far.

1. The 4-2 and the 3 man rush are failed experiments. Toss them and return to the traditional 4-3; with Terna Nande in the middle, Javy and Anton outside.
2. Blitz. Be creative with your blitzes. Send your DB's on occasion. Be aggressive.
3. I really like Martell Mallett, he's shown that he's a capable CFL RB.
4. Keep with BP at QB. He's in his first full season as THE guy, last year was a wash because he got hurt in week one.
5. Run some pro formations. BP under center, Lumbala as the blocking FB, Mallett/Smart as the TB, Green as the TE.The Co-ordinators need to grow a pair and tell Wally to back off, let them call the plays. WB needs to avoid micro-managing.
6. Get Kruck on BP to air it deep regularly. Even if you don't complete it, the DBs have to respect the deep ball and it opens things up underneath for the crosses, the hitches, the outs.
7. Pattern extensions: out-n-up, slant-n-go, hitch-n-go. Opposing defences know what's coming, so throw them the occasional curve.
8. CBs press the WRs, do not let them get clean breaks off the LOS.
9. Run the empty set on the goal-line with BP under center. Spread the D out, create some natural spacing. One step drop with a redzone fade to Hetherington (who is 6-4) at WR, the NFL has such thing as red-zone receivers.

1. Check. JoJuan > Terna
