Thank you Aquilini.
I wasn't aware that FA owned the Whitecaps... OR had been given an MLS franchise.

Boy, you're just overflowing with secret information today!

I don't suppose you know who really killed Kennedy?

First of to KIA. The retractable roof is being completed after the Olympics.

Last time I checked there were still 12 months in a year. Last time I checked a CFL season lasted 5-1/2 months from 1st exhibition game to Grey Cup game. For this exercise I discount the exhibition game as a non-factor as any creative thinker would look at the Dome construction as a marketing opportunity for the CFL to move it to a neutral site. So now you're talking reuglar season and playoffs only. This year it's 22 weeks and 4 days from regular season opening kickoff until the final gun at the GC. That leaves 29 weeks and a few days where the Dome isn't required for regular season or playoff games. There's more of the year where the Dome isn't needed for football that it is.

A little bit of creative scheduling (something Ackles acknowledged as a possibility) and marketing and the Lions can stay out of the Dome until late July. Partner with the CFL and play the home exhibition game at a neutral site. Ottawa should be back for 2010 so give the Lions the Week 1 bye. Start the Lions on a 3 game road trip (hey it's an extraordinary circumstance) and there's no need for a BC home game until late July meaning the Lions only need it for less than 4 months. Maybe a few trade shows late in the trade show season can to relocate to the new Trade and Convention Centre for a year or be rescheduled for another timeslot at the Dome. If that's done then the contractors can fly at it from early/mid-March to late July with no impact on the Lions. In fact while the Lions might not like the thought of starting the season with a long road trip for football reasons they'd probably gladly trade it for the improved gate having a schedule backloaded with home games under the new roof. Make no mistake they will benefit immediately on that as BC Place will again be THE place to be for the initial honeymoon period the new lid will provide.
It's amazing the creative ideas people can come up with when they use their brains for something beside negativity! :beauty:

You guys got it all wrong. I got it from reliable sources that the Lions are negotiating with Victoria to relocate the Lions there during the construction of the new roof. In the event this is not possible, the Lions will suspend operation for a year. There will be alot of NOISE during the construction.

hahaha wow whats that I smell? O ya the $&^% thats coming out of your mouth. :wag:

Aquilini does not own an MLS team and he does not own the Whitecaps. He is not even a partial owner. It was mentioned that he is interested in bringing an MLS team to Vancouver, but it would not be the whitecaps because they are making their own bid. However, the Whitecaps are in talks with Aquilini so he could become a partial owner, but not majority owner.

And Aquilini would have to cut down 1000 trees in Central Park to create enough parking for a 25,000 seat expansion of Swangard.

I can just see Aquilini holding a chainsaw and cutting down the trees

I wish your wacky conspiracy/ attendance/ noise / Printers threads would close for 6 months.

This nutjob has listed no source for any such accusations against Aquilini or for original post regarding BC Place......or even his latest garbage, the cutting down of 1000 trees. :hypno: :hypno:

Mods, how about locking this one down for a while? Or at least add your own witty remarks to his posts to make them readable. :i: :i:

Re: BC Place to be CLOSED for 6 months during Roof construction

there isn't a better location despite the drawbacks of taking your vehicle to the games
I don't think my vehicle would fit into one of the seats, so I just take my nephew instead. :wink:

I could see our BC Lions literally becoming Canada's team for the beginning of their schedule during the stadium renovations. The league could have them participate in a 2011 version of "Touchdown Atlantic", calling it something like "The Transcontinental Challenge" :football: and have the Leos play an exhibition game in Halifax versus Montreal :helmet: . Their second preseason game could be in Ottawa :popcorn: . They would open the regular season, as mentioned earlier, with a bunch of Eastern division road games, then return home completely exhausted to a bye week followed by their home opener. :roar: That should give the renovation crews plenty of time to get those nasty cables out of the way.

Mabey they would even make orange hard hats the fan giveaway at the first game! :lol:

Nope, sorry, can't. Lions play at 7:30 some nights, and bed time here is 8:00. Not happening.

:lol: Good one!

I heard a rumour that if they temporarily moved to Victoria they would be called the "GC Lions"... Gord Campbell Lions... They'd give themselves pay raises and would "get back to us later about the possibility of playing in the Grey Cup". 8)

the GC lions would double all prices, water down the drinks, cut staff, services, and security in half, and give the money to the olympics.

Actually, that wouldn't happen. Here's what would:

1) All the coaches would be suspended with pay for graft and corruption, and then given a HUGE golden handshake;
2) The players would be forced to forget how to enter and leave a traffic circle on the way to the Stadium;
3) Wally could be Mayor, but he'd have to depend on his friends in Kelowna to pay for all of his campaign, and then pay THEM back with public money;
4) Any and all team decisions would be sent out for study, with a promise to report back in 18 months to 2 years;
5) See #4; you must be at least one year late with your obvious conclusions. ("We have decided that water is wet.")
6) Move game time to 3 PM so that everyone can be home in time for bed at 8.
