Good points. I can still discuss football with my Rider-fan friends, the week following the Dickenson hit was definitely heated, but after that I think most of that stuff was forgotten and life goes on.

As much as this stuff rages on the internet forums, I don't hear much about this stuff in public. Its not water-cooler talk at work or anything. I don't hear much of it on the local sports talk radio program here in Sask., although, admittedly I don't listen too often. Sometimes I think these arguments happen in an echo chamber, thats completely removed from the mainstream fan who doesn't engage with people on internet messageboards.

I agree... I'm also from Saskatoon and you don't hear anything near what fans on the internet assume is going on in the heads of fans. Thats a general comment, not only about Rider fans. The people on these forums are die hard "Beyond" that of a regular season ticket holder even. Very few fans, outside the forum community, care about the crap that has gone on earlier in the season. Its only a big deal because everything is dissected in, out, and sideways on the net. The 90% of total CFL fans that DON'T visit these forums, see things much clearer than those of us that do, I'm sure.

Your are probably dead on in your assessment of this stuff. In my case however, stuff that has gone on over the Internet has definitely impacted on what I am willing to talk about in a real life situation. A shame IMO but it almost makes me long for the end of the season so that the issue won't potentially come up anymore.

Thats really unfortunate. I live in Saskatoon, and many of the people I talk with regularly are Rider fans, and the 'trash talk' is always good natured. Particularly when football is discussed at work. Its always fun. Its never done in mean spirited, or demeaning fashion.

I admit that if that were the case for me, I probably wouldn't watch football, or at least not the CFL. It would make it too strenuous, and painful. This stuff should be fun. I hate to think that the retarded few on the internet can spoil someone's enjoyment of a sport like that.

I find when "online" problems spill over into "real life", they're usually things that actually started "IRL" in the first place.

Not always the case, but that's most often how it happens...

I think we'll help in boosting your attendance, it's always a good atmosphere in B-C place. I think Austin will better prepare the team for the noise, as The Riders looked so lost last year.
