Things not looking good, guys.

Not sure what Jay means by "throwing so many balls at training camp." He was held back for most of it. Does he mean prior to camp?

Maybe its time for Reilly to think about retiring instead of jerking us around for another year. Its pretty obvious that he reported to camp and wasnt able to perform. Rather than cut him he should be offered a chance to retire or move to another team. He's taken us for a lot of money and its time to move on.

What do you mean, "jerking us around for another year?"

???

Injuries happen. He's been held back. Let's wait and see how this all plays out before talking retirement, trade, or slamming the guy.

Neil McEvoy on with Rintoul (who is on vacation) & Surman at 11am today. He repeated the notion that Reilly's issues are due to throwing "a thousand balls day one of training camp". Another alternate universe quote is Surman leads off by saying Mike (they both called him Mike at first) Reilly is "healthy". McEvoy says "I'm hoping he's ready to go when we get to Friday night, he's our guy" so it sounds like he will dress but not necessarily start. Then they talk about Rourke (finally some return to reality). After that he returns to the assertion that "no matter what, Mike Reilly is our leader".

The Lions’ injury list is growing. Garry Peters (hamstring) and Jordan Williams (calf) joined Reilly as limited participants in the final practice of the week on Wednesday.

I had to laugh at Jay Janower’s comment about Reilly overusing his arm by throwing so many balls at training camp. He threw about six passes on the one day I saw him throw the ball in Kamloops.

Jeff Paterson (filling in for Sekeres on vacation) talking about the Reilly issue right now on Sekeres & Price says PlayNow betting line on the Lion's season is very pessimistic. I guess they aren't buying the news that Reilly is okay. They will be talking with Farhan later on the show. When the show is archived at 6:30pm it's worth looking up (can't rewind a live show).

Well, I am not predicting good things for the Lions in game 1. Again we seem to find ourselves in a QB predicament and we haven't even played a down. I hope that the Lions handle whatever this injury is smartly. The early games mean far less than the later games of the season. If we have to start 0-2 or 0-3 to get Reilly healthy, I would much rather do that than have him come in when he isn't able, have him knocked out for 6 or 8 coming down the stretch. Whatever the answer is, I am guessing that this will be the last season for MR as the anointed starter. At his age, with this mileage, the odds are against him so time to start grooming whatever the situation is presently.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.

Great listen here. Farhan explains the Reilly situation, talks about what to expect from CFL teams including our Leos, and what the club needs to do to recapture the market.

If you want to skip the blah, blah, blah and go right to the meat of it, ff to 2:56.

The Lions have released their depth chart, with Reilly listed as starting QB. There are no changes in the rest of the starting lineup since training camp.

Re: B.C. at Saskatchewan Aug. 6, 2021

Farhan did sum up the situation very well--He didn't see the logic of Reilly being able to step in and play on Friday night--if he "hasn't felt right" throwing at all for the last 3 weeks, Here is a Reilly clip from last night on Global TV sports. More of the same messiah complex--he's heroically going in against all odds, putting his body on the line--all to shelter raw rookies from the hostile Mosaic environment. Apart from the Lion's in-house media, everyone else is now going "huh?"

IT WILL BE GLORIOUS!!!!

No Shaq Cooper for Week One. He will not dress. He has been placed on the one-game IL so James Butler will start in his place at running back.

I believe Jamel Lyles will see some touches too and Chris Rainey can fill in in a pinch.

Of all the unexpected things, Halford & Brough had the Moj on this morning. He is toeing the party line "Reilly will be fine". Begins at 16:00

Over on RF there are no comments yet about the BC QB situation. They seem to be more worried about their own OL and whether they will see original cuddly Gainer or scary eyes meth head Gainer.

Re: B.C. at Saskatchewan Aug. 6, 2021

Reilly's arm is so worn out that they have to keep him out of practice, have zero meaningful snaps in TC so then his arm will be fresh when it matters on game day...I'm not buying it. I mean he has, what is it 4 starters on O that he has never even played with? I expect the O to be completely out of sync and stink.

Oh, and the Lions have a rookie OC calling plays. :dizzy:

I was impressed by Butler in training camp and wondered if he might be a better option than Cooper as starting RB. He’s a powerful straight-ahead runner who hits the hole quickly and seems capable of picking up 7 yards on first down or converting tough second-and-short situations. His style seems to complement that of Jamel Lyles and Chris Rainey. Cooper is not listed on the daily injury reports so I’m not sure how real his injury is. This will be a good opportunity for Butler to show what he can do.
