Life's pretty good when all you have to biotch about is $6 beer because it's overpriced and not even very cold :thdn:

Seriously, Gizmo Fan 2 - well done - you took my post in the spirit I intended.

Cates being out is a serious concern, but Hugh Charles has looked suprisingly sharp in relief. Another concern is missing Makowsky, but Chris Best has been looking good. Makowsky-good? No, but Geno's been an all-star in 2004 and 2005 so those are big shoes to fill.

Look for some different looks from our D this year, Lions fans, as well as a vastly improved special teams squad. Etch kept the D pretty vanilla in pre-season as to not tip our hand (yeah, like no other team in the CFL did that too  )

Indeed.

If Etcheverry is really serious about this 4-1-7 (or whatever it is) D...your defensive front four better have their stuff together, or the power RB's like Lumsden/Reynolds are going to run over a lot of LB/DB's once they get through a hole. :juggle:

Yeah, power backs are a concern for me, but with Baggs, Schultz, Chunky and Chick, I'm feeling pretty good about our front four. Joe Sykes has looked good too for a rookie.

LMAO - I recall once last year we rushed 1 and dropped 11 into coverage - the O-linemen on the other side were standing there after the ball was snapped, heads swiveling back and forth, not knowing what to do cause there was no one rushing the QB - it was against the Eskies, IIRC.

ANYWAYS - back on topic.

I'm feeling pretty good about the Riders' chances vs the Lions on Friday - win/lose, either way, I'm just glad that were getting back to seeing some CFL football!!!!!
