However, there are a number of quarterbacks who are struggling in their present situations. Kevin Glenn is being questioned as the answer in Winnipeg. Michael Bishop, who won 11 out of 12 starts in Toronto last season, was traded out of Toronto and didn't have a lot of time in Riderville to learn the offence. Bishop, right now, was put on waivers so quickly to appease the fans in Regina and take the heat off Eric Tillman, who completely blew the quarterback situation in Saskatchwan this season. Bishop is good enough to end up somewhere next season. Casey Printers has struggled badly in Hamilton. Joseph did the same thing in Toronto. Bishop may only be the first of a number of quarterbacks we could see moving from their present teams in the off-season.
That is my take on it. I don't think it would have hurt the Riders chances to resign Darius Durant if they had waited a week or so to waive Bishop. This is a tough business but that seems a bit harsh to waive the guy 2 days after a playoff ouster. It seems largely to have been a placating move by Tillman who almost seems marionette like at times. Bishop may well end up somewhere else but if you were Durant, would you be wondering what might be in store if you have a bad game or maybe a slow start next season?

Let the body get cold. Nothing would be lost by waiting a week, but this way Tillman suckholes to the angry fan base. He might as well join his minions and dump manure in Bishop's driveway.

On Saturday, he was still considered the best choice to start the second half of the game. 15 passes later and they can't wait to get rid of him? Entirely incongruous.

I think you nailed it, it's more about finding a scapegoat to take the heat for the Tillman and Miller fiasco. How can a guys stock plummet so quickly, unless of course ,he was terribly overrated by the dynamic duo? Seems maybe the plan is to get him out of town quick, taking full responsibility, before the lynch mob turns on Tillman or Miller.

He's the starter for all 4 quarters of the most important game of their season and then 2 days later he's shoved out the door. One would think the head coach who started the guy for those 4 quarters might have some 'splainin' to do.

Bishop had his opportunity to win and he failed miserably.

It's not like the Roy/Danny years here anymore - mediocrity is completely unacceptable. Bishop had plenty of opportunity to learn the O with plenty of practice reps and game time.

With the Riders showing Bishop the door after a playoff clunker, now Henry has to be wondering about what happens if he has another typical Burris playoff performance... LOL

Perhaps you can explain this.

How does Tillman and Bishop's failure mean that the thread has to be turned into a Burris basher, as Rider fans always must?

It happened 4 seasons ago. Wow.

Sorry - apparently a misguided attempt at humour...

Just pointing out that Bishop has one poor playoff performance and buh-bye - Burris has had how many? No other current QB has a rep for choking in the playoffs...

Bishop has had 2 bad playoff performances if you count his game last year when he was an Argo. That said, I agree with others that it was a bit quick of Tillman to waive Bishop.

Bishop didn't lose the game. Your offense did. Bishop didn't have a chance against our defense. He had to throw the ball before some one on OUR defense nailed him. Cates got stoned. Blame one guy for a loss? I don't think you played a team sport. But guess what. I'll bet Bishop WILL take the blame. What a joke team!!!
Enough about these losers. Can we focus on the Stamps now?

One more time. Our defense beat up your offense.

It would have been very difficult for any quarterback to face the kind of pressure our defensive line put on him and be successful. You also had no running game with 34 yards rushing and Cates didn't have a carry over 4 yards. Miller left Bishop in for the second half because he was the quarterback who offered the best chance to bring the Riders back.

I can understand Tillman/Miller wanting to go in a different direction for next season but Bishop handled the three quarterback situation in Regina with a lot of class, took full responsibility for the loss (even though the loss was not just on him) and always spoke highly of the Riders organization. Therefore he deserved to be treated with more dignity. Putting him on waivers as quickly as Tillman did is an attempt to scapegoat only Bishop and take the heat off Tillman and Miller. That doesn't show any class to dump a guy who was your starter in the Western Semi-Final like a piece of garbage a couple of days later.

I agree, lets focus on the Stamps now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bishop is a glorified running back. IMO you cannot be a qb in the CFL without the ability to read defenses, no matter what kinda arm strength you have. Bishop CANNOT read defenses, he picks a guy and chucks it to him. If you run a complex defense at bishop he will fail every time. I really dont kno how hge made it to college, let alone thro college with the inability to read a defense and react.
