The husband has one of those long horns. At the beginning of the game especially when the Riders took an early 3-0 lead he sounded like a Category 2 hurricane. Towards the end of the game petered out to a tropical depression. :lol:

I think there's a certain ammount of cockiness from Rider fans in general - maybe it goes with the territory of being Grey Cup champions, but there did seem to be a few too many of the yahoo variety in attendance last night.

As David said, when visiting another stadium, it's best to be respectful to the home side. This action wasn't always in evidence.

There were a couple very visible Riders fans a couple rows down and across the aisle from me in 17... and we're talking, the green outfits, green faces, and the watermelon helmets. They were up and down all the time, the one waving his two flags (one Sask. provincial, one Riders) on his telescoping flagpole, and tossing little taunting gestures at the crowd whenever the Riders made a good play... but always with a smile on his face, and never rude or obscene about it. They knew enough to sit back down when the play resumed, and they took it as well as they gave it when the Lions got the big play. On the way out, the one offered handshakes to a number of Lions fans and even a high-five to a kid decked all in orange.

THESE are the kinds of fans you want representing your team on enemy turf, and I made sure to give him a handshake on the way out and compliment him on how he supported his team. He didn't appear TOO depressed, because let's face it, he HAD just witnessed a top-notch, edge-of-your-seat CFL contest.

I was a fan from hell last night

I came well juiced from the Kats clubhouse, booed every Sask fan I saw, even groups.

I spilled drinks all night, won a phone and had a great time.

That group was right behind us, about 10 rows up. They were pretty loud when we had the ball, but pretty damn quiet at the end of the game, that's for sure. I'll be a good fan next weekend. I won't have a whole lot of choice as I'll be slightly outnumbered! I'm just hoping for another well-played game. Well....and a Lions win, of course! 8)

Just want to throw my 2 cents in... we rode Skytrain in from Lougheed station and some Rider fans got on just after us and stood the entire way in. They were nice, polite, and all of us in the car were joking about why they didn't want to sit next to us Lions fans - it was good-natured ribbing back and forth, and respectful.

That night I also saw a lot of "Riders SUCK" from alcohol-induced fans that was going beyond any well-natured ribbing, as well as the reverse of that towards Lions fans. Apparently it's not enough to enjoy the game, but to enjoy a wee bit too much of the amber potion and act like a moron (I don't care if you drink, but apparently they make way more $$ than I do and can afford to binge on $7.50 beer!). Ribbing is one thing, being an obnoxious 19-yr old twerp that can't handle your liquor is another.

And speaking of "Fan from hell", there's a season ticket holder in level 2, section 46, row R (I'll withhold the seat # for now) that apparently feels that all us other season ticket holders and fans are ruining his particular enjoyment of the game. When a family of 5 arrived a bit late and tried to sort out their seating (someone had taken one of their seats and they politely worked it all out), the aforementioned FFH (fan from hell) yelled at them to sit down - pointedly, yelled at the poor young kids trying to get their seats straightened out. Ya, ok, it was during a play and the usher should have been on the ball and prevented people from proceeding to their seats during a play, but give the family a break! It's not like it was a regular occurrence (one time only), and to add to it this particular FFH arrived late himself (and does so on a regular basis!). Pot calling the kettle black, eh? If it were people acting like jerks and standing all the time, then yes, say something *politely* first, but don't yell at the poor family trying to get into their seats!

When I told him to take a pill he got all indignant, whining that "it's the same *poop* for years", yadda, yadda, yadda... If this is such an inconvenience for you buddy, then do REAL fans a favour and stay home and whine there. This particular guy is mouthing off all the time about how lousy the players and coaches are, so I'd love to know what team and position he retired from so successfully to be sitting in bronze seats. Everyone else in the immediate area was looking at this guy like he's Mr Scrooge.

And if you happen to be this guy in question and you're reading this, I hope you feel good that you were yelling at some young, enthusiastic kids that just happened to be at their *first* Lions game. Proud of yourself? Feel better now, Mr. I'm-a-Tough-Guy-that-can-yell-at-kids? Luckily the entire family seemed to enjoy the game despite the boorish actions of one grumpy so-called fan, and they ended up getting Lions jerseys and such.

I am away now but never had trouble with fans around me. Visiting other stadiums, I am low key and never identify myself to others as I just like to do my own thing and watch the game, etc and not get into discussions with any one but the person I went to the game with. Not much of a fan as I don't make noise, etc but I do enjoy the game and keep my focus on what they are doing. I only leave my seat at the half and I like to catch the warm up and check out which players, coaches speak after the game.

I don't know what it is about our culture that lends itself to drunken idiots but last night being in Hong Kong went to the mid Autumn Festival at Victoria Park where there were thousands of people many of whom were drinking who like me got their beer from 711. Never any fights here but you can drink any where here but on the bus or subway. 711 had wall to wall people which would have produced fights for sure in Canada. No fights. We have a collective problem in our society.

Soundy you missed it, but he was getting up and calling people fags as they walked by. I wanted to punch him in the head. He was an annoying little *beep* he did just enough not to get thrown out.

Ah, didn't notice any of that. Didn't notice anyone else seeming to be upset with the guy, either - no weird looks from the others around him.

He was pretty harmless to us down below.....some good hearted bantering, but that was about it.
