Re: BC 42 - Bombers 24 Some post-game stats and thoughts

I would of liked to have seen what S. Logan could do with a swing pass or lateral to get him outside (...I guess they don't do that anymore?). It seemed they called all the same running plays straight ahead as if J. Smith was still in there. Logan did pretty well and showed his ability to shread tacklers for some good yardage. Joe will probably be back in there for next week's game and will have something to prove, which doesn't bode well for Wpg.

J. Jackson is the best passer in football. No QB in any league can throw a more purrfect ball, and he has lowered the velocity on his short passes, showing tremendous touch in that game. He laid it right in there every time, although he did float that one pass to J. Clermont a bit, which exposed him to that devastating hit, with the Wpg defender jumping up and launching a crushing helmet to helmet spear on Jason. The league should review that hit.

It's was great to see the O-Line not missing a beat, despite missing some regular starters, including R. Murphy...can he get back into the lineup? 8)

Wow , great game Lions , congrats on a super performance. I got a kick out of Geroy's comment on the sideline "everyone who got off the bandwagon-stay off "

Yes, well-played game, great game plan and the Bombers continued to execute their all of a sudden gone vanilla offence. I thought Dinwoodie was given a better mix of plays but by that time the game was pretty much decided. It is pretty evident that the teams playing conservative on offence are getting their butts kicked this season. Charles Roberts did not become a bad running back overnight but all of a sudden the play calling for him and his offence has failed to help him and execution is killing them. Lions seemed to learn the lessons despite saying they were all happy with what they were running. Well something happened to get a different mix of run and passing plays that worked just fine last night and Jackson was great too.

If Geroy said that in the heat of the moment, yah, okay. His employer and bosses might disagree as I recall when just the hard core fans were at games with 17,000 and 19,000 fans in BC Place. In the pre-Ackles and Buono days it was rare if I could find someone to go with me (my wife stopped coming) and I was always offering my second season ticket for free but that didn't always work so I'd go by myself most of the time. We lost an entire age group of possible football fans in this city who are now parents with kids and who follow hockey or the NFL over the CFL.

Like it not, the media like controversy whether it is a RB, QB or loss streak. That is what gets the coverage and keeps the sports talkies talking Lion football over hockey. Geroy should be careful what he wishes for but likely it was just a spur of the moment comment.

I agree with Geroy that Vancouver sports micro-analyzes hockey. I love that line as I was convinced during the one year lock out that the talk shows had at least two more years of material to talk about if the lockout hadn't gone for 3 seasons. It is incredible how many line combos you can come up in fantasy land.

He had a super game and that dropped ball might have been a nice wake up call for him. He looked his usual self after that drop by scoring and getting open.

As for Geroy's comment...I felt he was the player he wasn't the first two games. Yes, he was open in the first two games too BUT he's missed opportunties in ALL THREE games. I was most impressed with his 'interception'. In other words, last night Geroy was part of the solution instead of part of the problem. I felt the ball was really spread around well and still Geroy had a lot of yards.

BTW---The Lions Insider (game day newsletter) has really cranked it up a few notches this season. They send you an encylopedia of notes, stats, etc... I only wish I had more time to peruse this before the game!

Does it now only take a couple of days to remove your cranium from your rectum?

Modern medicine hey, makes you wonder.......
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

No, I can pretty much do it in a few seconds, it just takes a while to get my hair to smell decent again.

This was my thought too... if only Logan would cut to the outside, I felt he would have reeled off like 400 yards last night. He has the wheels, but every time he put his head down and darted straight into traffic. His one long run came purely because there was a nice, big straight-ahead hole.

For what it's worth, I think this is true of Joe Smith too -- I don't like the defeatist attitude of going up the middle every time. And I think this is a huge market inefficiency to be exploited Moneyball-style -- the first CFL coach who finally actually notices how freaking WIDE the field is in Canadian football will have the league's leading rusher, methinks.

Jason Clermont -- what can you say? How does this man not have 100 NFL offers after every game?

It was pretty nice of Jayden Jimenez to wait till the day after the game to make his entrance into the world.....9lbs 6oz. :beauty:

Super news for the Jiminez family. Congrats to all, hope mom and Jayden are well.

Dad was probably suffering quite a bit too, though.

If Jayden decides to play pro football in the CFL he would be classified as a non-import.

Not so sure about that, as he would have to be in Canada for a few years, and to be sure of his NI status, he would have to initiate his football in Canada as well. If Jimenez leaves for the NFL as was once thought, I don't think Jayden would qualify if it happened soon enough. Crazy NI rules to be sure, but it is what it is.
