It sounds like to me that the Saskatchewan fans/team are already making excesses. I've been going to Lions games since the mid 90's when I was a teenager. I remember how dull it was in there and I do remember them playing crowd noise over the speakers when there was close to 15000 people in there. Since then I have done work in BC Place, I have been able to see how the whole sound system works in the building. I have had the chance to talk with the engineers and many people who work in the stadium. Trust me there is no extra crowd noise pumped in through the speakers. The Lions have taken precautions to make sure this doesn't happen. Also what a lot of people don't realize is when the building was being built their budget ran out. They were not able to "sound proof" the building. If you have ever been in the PNE Coliseum on the back walls, the ones that are made of concrete there are foam blocks that look like cinder blocks all over the concrete. Why are they there? To collect extra noise, that is why the Coliseum is one of the dullest buildings even when there is a sellout crowd. So my final science lesson to all you Saskatchewan fans. Domed building + Concrete everywhere + Plastic seats + 60 000 fans = Over 120 DBS of noise. Think about it there is no place for the sound to escape from its an air tight building. So that is why it gets so loud not because of "canned Noise". Go Lions!!!

So when no penalties are assessed to the Lions for breaking this crowd noise rule we will finally be able to put this ridiculous rumor to rest.

I thought that the Riders had it all figured out anyways so it won't be an issue for them

the team has said nothing about "canned noise" this week. only people talking about are the Fans and media. So the team is not looking for any excuses, they will come and play ahrd and fight to get the W

That would be nice, but I think that this is one of those myths that just won't die.

When no penalties are given to the Lions for noise, the Rider fans will blame it on poor officiating.

Not all of us - as far as I'm concerned, if the CFL says there's no canned noise at BC Place, there's no canned noise at BC Place. End of story.

League officals have nothing to gain from lying to the fans and all the teams.

So the FACT the Lions haven't been penalized, whereas other teams have in the past, isn't the proof that you asked for above? So by saying that this year, if the League doesn't penalize the Lions you will believe them and the Lions are vindicated, but the fact the Lions haven't been penalized in the past you are saying ou don't believe the League? "I'll believe you this time, but all of the previous years you were obviously lying." Good argument!

No, that's not it at all. I'm a little more informed this year than in years past and took more time to think about it, what it means to the fans, the league, the teams. That explains the change in my thinking. It seems by your above post that people aren't allowed to change their minds about something - 10 years ago, I just would have shot from the hip, being opinionated and uninformed (which is a dangerous combination). This year I've reconsidered my position - and hence my above post.

Have you ever considered that there is a possibility that some Rider fans and some Lions fans can actually agree on something? I still have green-tinted glasses, it's just that they're not opaquely green anymore...

I think we (Lions fans versus Riders fans) have a difference of opinion here based on semantics. Riders fans claim the Lions use "canned noise" inside BC Place stadium, while Lions fans disagree. :bang:

If you were to concede that BC Place itself is a huge can (a bit of a stretch considering the "lid" is fabric) then Riders fans would be right, and there is "canned noise" at Lions' games. But it's not artificial. It's not "piped in". It's not played through the speakers. It's supplied by the sheer volume and intensity of tens of thousands of dedicated Lions fans, screaming, shouting, whistling, clapping, and stomping in support of our defending Grey Cup Champions. :roar: :rockin:

The roof just helps make our can (stadium) sound louder than anyone else's. (If the Argos ever had more than their immediate family and friends attending their games, they'd be loud with their roof closed, too.)

You are the only Saskatchewan fan who doesn't believe in canned noise then. Canned noise is as real as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. When you have 50,000+ fans, the alleged Canned noise would be drowned out.

Sigh.... why do so many BC fans need to lie. I am a Sask fan, and I do not say that after the huddle break BC continues to use electronic sound. Now before the huddle break, every team uses something like music, announcers, flashing signs, etc to encourage their fans to get louder. I know that many other Sask fans agree with me, so stop using the big brush.

I do think that generally a Taylor Field crowd better understands the dynamics of when to yell and not to yell, heck even the guy writing the offical CFL blog was amazed at how quiet the stadium gets when Sask is on offence : http://www.cfl.ca/blog/

go_green wrote:"the CFL plans to monitor the crowd noise this weekend and if it's discovered the sound crew of B.C. Place does in fact break any rules by playing canned crowd noise, than the officials will be notified from up in the booth, and a penalty will be assessed against the Lions."

from a media writers blog today, I guess the league plans to monitor it closely this year.
Whether or not it happens, you all are biased, so are Rider fans that say it happens, Ive never been there for a game so I have no clue.
So stating that the Lions don't use canned noise makes us biased? I don't think so! We're stating fact.

And, the "canned noise" euphoria reaches the mainstream...wow. I thought that Saskatchewan people had more confidence in their team than this.

The best part is when Brendan talks about last year's noise level, and how it almost sounded unnatural.

One is tempted to wonder how many blatant accusations like this can continue to be put in print/on the air before a libel suit is filed...
