I am getting a little tired of hearing about this, but I am glad all the players are focused on how "dirty" Murphy and Jiminez are and not concentrating on just playing the game

well they are dirty
So are most of the
*mod edit* fans, shall we start another thread on that?

Glad to see our opposition firing up our team. Guess Murphy and Jimenez will have to pancake Canada and Walls. BTW anybody know whether Canada or Wall's dads are going to be at the game to protect their sons after they're manhandled by our tackles ?

much ado about nothing.
"I think the best way to stop that stuff is just to beat them fair," he said. "I recall last year and the first time I ever went up against Murphy. At the beginning of the game he was talkin' and all that stuff and I beat him around the edge and knocked the crap out of the quarterback and he kind of shut up after that.
"I'm not going to back down if he's going to be a punk and come after me like that."
"I don't want to say they're flat-out dirty, but they do some things that are uncalled for. I'm not layin' down for nobody. If they want to come out there and play dirty against us... you can play dirty all you want in between the whistles but when it comes after the whistle, I know our D-line, we ain't takin' none of that. We're going to retaliate."
sounds to me it's more of a case of the bomber ends saying "bring it on" than whining about anything.

Head coach Doug Berry, meanwhile, said he's seen nothing from the B.C. line that's offensive. In fact, he says, he wants his O-line to play the same way. The line is drawn, he said, when an aggressive play results in a penalty.
"It's a game of intimidation... I don't think B.C. is doing the ridiculous things," he said. "The things that they're doing are primarily within the rules of fair play and they're just very aggressive in the way they do it and I hope our guys are... That's the way the game is played on the O-line."
This what Berry is saying. LOL!!
Funny to see their coach is impressed with the Lion's tackles. Enough of this crap from the opposing teams, if you can't cut it, maybe they should look at other forms of employment/careers. To Tom Canada and Gavin Walls.....

Yeah .... it's a dirty shame they aren't on your team
id love to have Murphy on my team. Jimenez is a moron. you can keep him
I really get a kick out of this idiot!! First of all, what I would like to see is this "fan" stand in front of Jimenez and tell him he is a moron....and let this punk try standing in front of Jimenez and take a hit or two to his chest...then he would know who the real moron is.
A dual degree from Southern Miss, speaks four languages, has traveled the world playing football...does not sound like the definiton of moron to me!! Here is what a moron is: a bandwagon Rider fan that knows NOTHING about football, one who takes personal shots at someone whom he has never even met.
Sort of like what I am doing now....looks like I am a moron too!!
Anyway, Sask...Winnepeg...Montreal...Edmonton....all with DE's who are nothing but trash talk who can not back up what they say. Edmonton's DE's started some trash talking....called the two tackles the dirtiest in football...THEN they got smacked around by the Wrecking Crew...in fact when THEY could not back up their mouths, they tried to send in Braidwood's father.....maybe we should have smacked him around a little as well.
When you are the best tackles in Canada (bar none), when you play for the Grey Cup Champions, when you are 5-1 after six games (and we haven't even started to play...yet), EVERYONE else can do nothing but whine. So, after this week, the next victims for the Wrecking Crew will be Tom Canada and whatever that other persons name is...Hey, maybe their fathers can take on Jimenez and Murphy in a "whiners grudge match"!

Agreed. Just an idiot rider fan trying to s/d.
Good luck Friday (but not too much).

Jimenez looks real smart when it comes to talkin to the media. He reminds of a stupider Bobby Jurasin if thats possible.
knows nothing about football. Right, good luck with that
and last of all Fred perry does back up what he says, in case you didnt notice he made more of an impact then brent johnson has last year and this year. but i guess you cant read anything with out your orange sunglasses and orange kool aid

Back this up.
Oh right, you can't because Johson has two individual awards, a Grey Cup ring and a new truck from last year and Fred Perry has memories of getting his ass whipped and a beautifal green jersey.
Rider fans love to beat the drum that Perry is somehow better than Johnson. Unfortunately for them the facts do not bear this out.
Keep believing it though, Rider fan desperation and self delusion are always great for a deep laugh.

hmmmmm
maybe look at the stats before talkin
2006 individual Stats
Fred Perry 47 tackles, 14 sacks (2nd in league), 5 tackles for a loss, 1 int, 2 forced fumbles, 2 Tds
Brent Johnson 22 Tackles , 16 sacks (1st), 3 tackles for a loss , 2 int, 3 forced fumbles, 1 td.
Brent Johnson is an unbeleivable player and was deserving of the canadian award, he is also a great team player. But BC fans like yourself dont respect fred Perry and they should because stats wise he was on par with BJ or better in some areas. I would take either guy on my team to be honest but just didnt like your reply.
and a grey cup is a team award which yes your team was superior. congrats

You said MORE OF AN IMPACT. How can you possibly back that up?? JOHNSON WAS THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER ON THE BEST TEAM.
How can a player possibly make more of an impact????
As for the stats, BETTER implies a noticeable difference from one to the other. Perry stats may be close or even on par, but BETTER???? Not at all.

I love the "# of tackles" stat ...
It just shows that your defence was on the field more. Sorry but I would much rather not lead the league in tackles because my offence is on the field too much. If my defence makes the opposition Offence go 2 and out all game long all season long - they aren't going to lead the league in tackles and be behind several other players, but I would say they are a much better defence than the one with 1000 tackles!!
Never use the "# of tackles" in a discussion with someone who may know a thing or two about football - it doesn't mean anything. Perry might have more tackles because opposition teams recognize him as a weakness in the line and run to his side whereas teams may consider Johnson a threat to their run game and never run to his side.
The "# of tackles" stat is for commentators, scribes and people who don't truly understand the nuances of the game.

Yes, yes, yes.
Also for argument sake, Perry finished 37th in the league for tackles. Not really much to crow about. Are you sure you want to argue this point?
D ends are NEVER judged on tackles, ever. The point that Perry had more tackles than Johson is a red herring at best.

Re: this tackle stat talk -- perhaps the league should be recording how many yards were gained prior to the tackle and whether the ball carrier was stopped short of a first down, as compared to the raw number of tackles, so you'd have some idea of a defensive player's "tackling efficiency" (right now they only distinguish sacks/tackles for loss).
THEN you might have some debate fodder. Player A with, say, 40 tackles all season -- with ten of them for lost yards and half of the remainder without letting the ball carrier reach 1st down territory -- would grade out a lot better than Player B with 100 tackles who never brings down the ball carrier until he's 5yds past the 1st down marker.
But even those numbers won't tell the whole story -- you'd have to keep track of a player's missed tackles, too, and in some cases Player A will make the tackle after Teammate B has missed, but nonetheless slowed the ball carrier down enough to make it an easier tackle -- one that Player A perhaps wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to make. You don't have to watch very many games to realise that this is not infrequently the case on sacks -- the player who gets the sack credit isn't always the one who had the most pressure on the QB!
In short, tackle numbers by themselves are meaningless.

Every opposing defensive lineman in the league is in agreement, they are unhappy with the unclean and ungentlemanly play of our two import tackles from last years Championship Leos team.
What they'd consider fair play is for us to be a turnstile for their defensive front lineman's aggression to our Qbs.
A career ending concussion to our main man or some broken ribs to our backup pivot, they'd like that so as they can make our third stringer run for his life throwing into the gapping maw of the teeth of their defense.
Why don't they drop the crybaby act and take their punishment like men...
They can dish it out, but whine and whimper like the simpering curs they are when they have to take it instead.
