Weren't we doing the same thing last season, when the Lions started 2-3 and only lost 2 more games the entire season, capping it with a Championship.

I'm not saying that Eskies are gonna do that, however, and 0-1-1 start is not the end of the world. However, Abdullah is headed down the Jeremaine Copeland road, where the operative words are 'shut up'.

Yes, my vote is definately in the lets not write off the Eskimos just yet camp. I have never like the Eskimos but I do respect them. It is nice for me personally to see them struggle the way my Lions have struggled at various times in the past. It is finally their turn to have some stumbles, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory (I'm talking about Game 1).

I certainly would not write them off either I am just trying to put across the panic of some fans and most media in Edmonton when they lose :lol: :lol: On the other hand if they would have won this game they would have gone to the other extreme and basically written about Cup contenders!! There is not a lot of middle ground in this city, maybe more than any other city with their sports teams? I could be off about that though??

Agreed, cro. No it's not 'eskiebackers', but it IS a place where we can cheer for our team AND have a healthy measure of respect for other teams, when warranted. We're allowed to do that.

Copy that. I ain't writin' them off either. Ricky Ray scares me big time. And the Eskies usually play us tough.

It is just fun to see the City of Champions struggling with some humility. It looks good on them.

Still they're lucky not to be 0-2. Troy Westwood lost the opener for Winnipeg and that's why they picked up Pikula.

Wow, that puts that whole slogan in a new perspective. I will confess that I never knew that and had assumed that it had something to do with the Oilers and the Eskimos. That knowledge rights a wrong that I have been harbouring for far too long (assuming incorrectly). From now on, whenever I hear that wrong being promoted, I will be sure to set the record straight!

That "reference" proves nothing. It's a "reference" as in re-enforcing the idea.

I would agree with that as over the years I have always heard of it referred in a sports sense to the Esks and Oilers and not of the 1987 tornado from which thw slogan originated. In fact, when Solar Max posted that I didn't even realize that was the origin of the slogan as no one here usually talks about it representing that. But then again, I shouldn't have doubted Solar Max . Well done Lawrence
