Maybe Tyler Emmert will resurface
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008
I got the feeling that they saw Tyler, and moved on, otherwise they would have had him on the PR or brought him up later in the year. There are lots of promising QBs in NCAA; finding them is the challenge. It might be a little tougher these days as the NFL is not so strict about the Bledsoe-style prototype (big body, big arm), and will give looks to more guys.

Since when does the AFL sign for good $$? They play in hockey arenas with a tops 20K capacity. I don't think it's very popular. Where do they get the money from???freddyf wrote:Mortensen recently signed in the AFL (Arizona I think..the same team as Dinwiddie). So we may not see him at all.

Entertainment value = an all time low
That is so lame if they can offer higher contracts than the CFL...is hockey really that un-popular TV-wise in the states? You'd think with baseball, basketball, hockey, football, golf and college sports that there would be no more time left for the AFL.Tighthead wrote:The AFL gets decent gate and has pretty good TV deals for a minor league.
If you go by TV ratings and attendance, the NHL is no more popular in the U.S. than the AFL.MacNews wrote:That is so lame if they can offer higher contracts than the CFL...is hockey really that un-popular TV-wise in the states? The Arena league is doing a better job of marketing its product than the CFL. Very sad considering that the CFL is the oldest pro league in football, and Arena the youngest.(hope my facts are correct?)
The t.v. production of a Arena game verses a CFL game is night and day. The amount of cameras, and camera angles make the Arena much more exciting on t.v.
The CFL has the better game and better players. It is just not packaged to the public and the t.v. markets.
I do believe that the TSN deal will be a step in the right direction, although I have a real problem with the Friday Night Football blackouts in the US. TSN will do a better job of production, and camera friendly angles for the t.v. viewer. I hope they do more overhead cable shots, into the huddle, following the ball in flight to the reciever, ect. All the hype they can do will get more t.v. viewers. The Grey Cup should also be broadcast on ESPN in the US(if the NFL would ever allow that)
The CFL is way under marketed and produced to the t.v. audience, and to the football hungry US.

Sorry but I just can't see myself watching football inside a hockey rink.
I am no big AFL fan, but it has also been very stable for a fledgling league in a novelty sport. They kept costs down, and were pretty good about culling the lame markets and developing strong ones. I don't think the league has ever teetered on collapsing or anything like that. For a small league, they have done a great job with it.

EA Sports even has a video game for the AFL - good graphics and will further help promote the AFL - John Elway owns a team.
