Excellent decision by Jennings not to force the ball
Re: B.C. Lions at Edmonton Sept. 26, 2015 - Game Day thread
Jennings felled at the 7 as the pocket collapses. 3rd down, kicking situation. Leone WIDE on the chip shot! Goes through goal for a rouge 16-7 BC. Can't believe he missed that. Looked like it was good at first but the official waved it off.
That was an '04 McCallum Special.

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Leone misses a 16 yard field goal. Hope it doesn't come back and bite us.

The Lions can't take advantage of Iannuzzi's biggest ply of the season and Leone misses the short field goal. That's two straight missed scoring opportunities in the second and third quarters. 16-7 Lions.

Edmonton rushes 3, we double team the guy in the middle and somehow the other 2 beat 3 line men to get to JJ. Our O-line is horrible. If Harris is going to miss any more time we need to get one of those over hyped Americans out and get a Canadian on the line to open up a ratio spot for Rainey.

Edm TOD on the failed 3rd & 1 near midfield.

defence holds on 3rd down gamble
Re: B.C. Lions at Edmonton Sept. 26, 2015 - Game Day thread
Nice third-down stop by Bighill to force a turnover on downs. Turnovers are now even, one apiece.

Come on Cortez, how about play action on 1st down

BC go 2 & out after the TOD and punt it to the 3, pin Edm to their 10YL on the return. Maybe should have taken a bounce and a rouge there.

Injury updates from 1040: Yell out of uniform and looks to be done for today. Harris still on the sideline, status unclear.

The Lions can't keep trying to run on first down. Edmonton's while defensive philosophy is based on attacking the line on first down and forcing teams into second and long situations.
