I thought Boyko played well last year for the Elks. Always quick to intercede on behalf of his teammates but a bit of a black cloud hanging over him changing teams as often as he has.

I'm surprised Adrian Greene has not been re-signed. Can't see him asking for a bunch of money and it seemed he was a part of the future plan.

He was Gawd awful. I hope we’ve seen the last of him.

Interesting. Seemed like they sure tried hard to fit Greene in and I thought one of the reasons they moved on from Sayles.

I'm stuck listening to Glenn Suitor describe the play so if it doesn't happen right in front of him we miss out. I have always said attending games in person gives a better perspective of the game and players.

Beaulieu is the one I thought looked good at times and is part of the Laval "French Connection" that may be an underrated feature for some. No doubt it is something Justin McInnis would miss if he left.

Re: Potential Lions 2025 free agent list

Adrian Greene's value diminished with the strong play of Patrice Rene, who led the Lions in special teams tackles last year and stepped in at several positions in the secondary, and the development of rookie Christophe Beaulieu into a starting safety. The Lions also dressed fellow rookie safety Charlie Ringland for the final 9 games of the season. Greene is still only 25, the same age as Beaulieu and Ringland. He has value, but a team with greater need for a national DB may value him more than the Lions.

The Lions have extended American OL Chris Schleuger, a veteran backup who had 3 starts at LT last year and 3 at LG.

Scratch ace returner Janarion Grant from the Lions' wish list. He has re-signed with the Argos.

I wonder how much influence Buck Pierce has had in getting Rourke to restructure his contract (take less $) and McInnis to re-sign? Haven't several Bomber players the past few seasons taken a slight salary discount so more top tier players could be retained? And now maybe the Lions are on a similar path.

Nice to see McInnis get done. Let’s hope he can play up to what undoubtedly is a big contract.

Now it gets interesting. What other 2024 starters do they want back? Couture? Chungh? Mackie? Banks? Lee? Flintoff? And what FAs are they pursuing?

Interesting how Rigmaiden words it as “Buck Pierce’s offence”
How much will we be emulating what the Bombers have been doing?
“Justin has evolved into an elite game-breaker in this league and we feel his ceiling can be even higher as we integrate our players into Buck Pierce’s offence,”

Gut feel for me is:

Mackie - would like to move back east to either Toronto or Hamilton to be closer to his wife who has a good job at Western in London.
Couture/Chungh - having dealt for Allen and extended Schleuger to go along with Broxton and Woodruff along with securing McInnis I think they are leaning towards starting 3 Americans on the OL. Moving on from one or both seems probable.
Banks - I think he's not as appreciated as he could be. He doesn't put up big numbers but seems to draw a lot of double-teaming and by all accounts is a respected leader. Despite that I think they will move on to go younger with the likes of Tavai.
Lee - core heart and sole type leader but the clock is ticking. They may well move on.
Flintoft - if they are ready to give him a shot I think they go with Meyer and bring another punter to camp for competition.
You're as old as you've ever been and as young as you're ever going to be.

Farhan Lalji says McInnis will make $250,000 this year. That will presumably set the bar for other receivers.

Anyone know if Covington is still under contract for next year? If so, what the cap hit is? I thought he got stronger as the year went on, but didn't get as many snaps as you'd expect for probably having the most tackles for a loss in the 2nd half.

I thought he was only on a 1 year deal but he's not listed as a pending FA on the official CFL list. And yes he did get stronger as the season went on. His numbers were as good as Micah Johnson's and better in some categories. Johnson got the All-Star nod and Covington didn't.
