Thanks for the link TV. Gulio's contract with the team must have ended with the season to put that all out there on a sports talk show. He is typically very guarded of his criticism during the season as a paid employee but he has obviously spoken to someone within the organization.Toppy Vann wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 11:52 pm Lots of smoke arising here.
The owner didnt exactly smother the flames but there is nothing new in this story other than GC week has to be over first before they do a year end review that they can speak to.

Guilio's speculation is highly intriguing for sure as if he didn't have some solid inklings given his need for good relationships with the GMs and HC I can't see see why he'd go out on a limb on this.

Hard no to Jones. He leaves a mess behind where ever he goesdon corleone wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:03 am Not that anyone is asking, and assuming there is something to the rumour I toss the ball to Chris Jones and ask him to try again. No one works harder and he is passionate about the game. He also knows personnel as witnessed by Nick Anderson winning rookie of the year.
Could also bump VA to HC as he has those kind of qualities. He can't be OC but he could be HC.
If that fails I have an uncle who is pretty smart.
I'd surmise that the reference to "structure" might lead to a separation of the HC from the GM role and no more co-GMs - a structure that should never be gotten into as it limits who you can hold accountable."There's going to be some major moves I think with the coaching staff and the way the structure of the team is.."
Actually coming into the season Elks had one of the fewest number of free agents listed for the coming year. While there were new additions the roster did not turn over near as much as it did in his previous years. They are also blessed with some good draft picks that he made but won't get credit for. Brodrique and Dublanko among them. Elks were a young team in 2024.Hambone wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:57 am No, no, NO to Jones unless you're OK with constant change, roster turnover and chaos.
That won’t be a popular opinion and is probably a major longshot, but I agree that he brings a lot of passion and knowledge. I would be hesitant to give him too much leeway with regards to personnel for the reasons Hambone mentions (although a little chaos can sometimes be a good thing).don corleone wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:03 am Not that anyone is asking, and assuming there is something to the rumour I toss the ball to Chris Jones and ask him to try again. That they did but despite the smallest group of pending FAs they still turned over half the roster which led them to an 0-7 start before Jones was fired. In 2023 they started out 0-9 before chalking up their first win. An 8-33 record under Jones' leadership is not going to sell here.don corleone wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:53 amActually coming into the season Elks had one of the fewest number of free agents listed for the coming year. The other thing is getting fired being such a wonderful learning experience for the next time. It's very underrated.
What do you guys think about McEvoy coming back? He hasn't been talked about much on here. Hits and misses.SammyGreene wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:25 pm Nice update from Farhan. He is confident McElvoy is safe with the only potential impact on him being a tweaking of his official title.
If half the stories flying around this week are true you won't have to worry about Chris Jones in BC.Hambone wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:27 pm I'm contemplating dumping my season tickets not because of the team and season but strictly due to the travel and accommodation costs that come with living 800km away from BC Place. Bringing Jones in would make dumping them a no-brainer.
