So where is the guy a few games back that said many of the Lionbackers shouldn't be complaining about coaches when we were winning :)

Opponents know how to attack a Ryan Phillips defence.

Eastern loaded remaining schedule. This team will miss the playoffs then watch the heads roll.

Nathan Rourke played better in his second game back, going 22 of 31 for 234 yards and an interception, but he still couldn't find the end zone, while Dru Brown shredded the B.C. defence, going 28 of 37 for 390 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. The Lions led 17-12 in the first half but the second half was all Redblacks as they made adjustments and outscored the Lions 22-10. That's 5 straight losses, dropping the Lions at least into third place, heading into the rematch in Victoria next week.

A couple of key stats from this one.
- The Lions scored 2 TDs in 5 trips inside the red zone. Ottawa was 1 for 2.
- The Lions converted only 9 of 20 2nd down opportunities. Ottawa was 15 of 22. The Lions couldn't get a stop when they needed one.

If Rourke had the preseason to work with the Lions this would be a different team. I have faith Rourke will eventually get his timing all the way back, and get familiar with the receivers, but will he get it back in time this season?

McInnis was back to his early self in the first quarter..Did the Lions try to target him again?

Tough to be a Lions fan right now as that game was horrible on many fronts.

Is this death spiral a result it because our talent level is sub-par? Or is it that coaching staff inept? Perhaps a combo platter? Or perhaps the will turn it around with this crew?

We are broken and I don’t see a lot of hope on the horizon. Sigh…….

No. He had 5 catches on 5 targets for 79 yards, all in the first quarter.

Re: Lions at Redblacks Aug. 24, 2024

Farhan has mentioned this several times during the downward spiral. This defence is nowhere near good enough to win games on its own.
They saw their best defensive player leave for the NFL. Allowed Edwards-Cooper to sign elsewhere then cut Baron, Mauger, Menard and Sayles for salary cap reasons. In fairness they also lost their starting middle linebacker to a season ending injury.

The offence did show some signs of life tonight with producing nearly 400 yards but a good Red Blacks team exploited BC's defence and it's not getting any easier next week or upcoming games against Montreal and Toronto.

Remember when this all started with the 1 point loss in Calgary where Evans failed to scoop up a late 4th quarter fumble? Little did we know what was coming.

Certainly disappointed in the result as they have now lost nearly 1/3 of their season in straight games. Even more urgency in their game as all the other teams are pushing for the playoffs at this point - Rourke was a bit better but probably still a few weeks away from being in sync - not sure what will happen with VA jr comes back though. I thought the D was more disappointing today - needed some key stops late Wholesale changes at this point - NO - but certainly some tweaks needed in their play management strategy (plus any surprises on both sides of the ball would be appreciated to make it less predictable to their opponent).

We will see what necessary adjustments they make next week for the rematch.
