They brag about the system of gov't they have and now they can't see it doesn't work.Sir Purrcival wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 6:24 pmIt doesn't really matter at this point. My already jaded impression of their politics and their political system has been irrevocably set in concrete. They are #1 in the greatest disparity between opportunity to learn and actual wisdom. Trump is just a symptom of the bigger problem which is that their system, the self proclaimed greatest in the world, is not much better than some of the country's they complain about. Money, influence peddling, character assassination, fabrications, intimidation are way too ingrained in their system and Trump is the most obvious, recent product of that. They need a complete overhaul of their political structures and since they can't even agree on something modest like healthcare, the likelihood that they would have another civil war is greater than their chances of ever working together for the greater benefit.
Their founders didn't contemplate political parties not even in the Senate.
The Electoral College (highly undemocratic ) set that way to make a bad President didn't get in.
No one branch of gov't- until Trump decided he didn't have to go by convention and norms - can act in isolation of the others.
Heard a great quote from this story on the news tonight:
Populism and liars and right wingers and hate and profligate spending have radically altered govt these days. One day somebody will explain to me why it is that, at a time when science has never been wiser, or the truth more stark, or human knowledge more available, populists and liars are in such pressing demand.
