Bro Jake Moving on
Jake Edward's last week on 1040. No mention of his replacement and reason for leaving. I'm thinking ratings and not renewing contract BB

He's not leaving entirely yet--will have a 4 hour weekend show. Pratt will still be on mornings (at least for the summer, with a rotation of guest hosts).
Most recent ratings show TSN ahead of Sportsnet, but 4 months ago it was the reverse.

Re: Bro Jake Moving on
He's been in the business for over 40 years so must be a few years north of 60. Ratings don't seem to be an issue. Expiring contract + age + the fact he did have a serious health situation recently I think points to good reasons for him to throw the alarm clock away as he said and enjoy life.Ballistic Bob wrote: Tue Jun 26, 2018 8:04 am Jake Edward's last week on 1040. You're as old as you've ever been and as young as you're ever going to be.

The good news is no more The Champ commercials!

I think you're probably right within no more than a year + or - based on when he got started in the business.

I'm not sure if we will escape those ads entirely. (Unless he takes the license to use the character with him). One encouraging thing though is the latest Bernhausen Diesel ad "don't forget your old cougar" sounds like it might be a goodbye version.David wrote: Tue Jun 26, 2018 11:41 am The good news is no more The Champ commercials!

Bro Jake starts his new 1040 show Saturdays 11am-3pm tomorrow. He's been running ads for it all week.

I never listen to sports talk on weekends, so have no idea behind the rationale for this. It replaces a show called Sports Saturday and is (judging by his co-host Gene Valaitis) going to be about anything but sports. Unlike when he was with Pratt, neither host brings anything to the table.
