defence holds. Kill the clock and regroup for the second half
BC gets it back after a 2 & out with 0:15 left and run the clock out on the half with a slim 17-16 lead.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
I suppose I could see that on the last one but I think we did same on the first two when that wouldn't be the case.TheLionKing wrote:Presumably to save timesj-roc wrote:
Why aren't we taking kickoffs after these FGs?

Great point. Running game going nowhere. Lions oline getting dominated so faryukonlion wrote:need better production on first down, calgarys reading our playbook...
The Lions have been rolling the dice all year by dressing four defensive ends and only two tackles. Menard has had to fill in twice for Brooks this year when he was hurt. Before Menard got hurt himself, he was blown 10 yards downfield on a rushing play up the middle. Now the Lions are forced to use a 3-4. If the Stamps decide to run the ball in the second half, the Lions will have a tough time stopping them.
When you go with four defensive ends (Bazzie, Allen, Roh, Menard) and three defensive tackles (Brooks, Westerman, Forde) you take the risk that, if one of your defensive tackles gets hurt, you're either going to gas the two remaining tackles or you're stuck in a lot of three man line.
Our best and only import defensive tackle is Brooks and he is gone for the game. Menard is gone.
Therefore, we're in a tough bind on the defensive line. Calgary knows it. Westerman looks tired already. He can't take on double teams like Brooks. We probably should shift Roh inside to tackle in the rotation for the second half.
We'll also need some inside linebacker blitzes.
If we don't get some inside pass rush, Bo Levi is going to have all day in the pocket in the second half.
