Re: Ticket Prices / Lions' Marketing
Doan apparently has agreed to a contract with Phoenix pending sale to the owner who will keep the team in the desert
Re: Ticket Prices / Lions' Marketing
While Alex Burrows has just signed a four year extension.

Shane know has been annouced he did sighn with phonex, so that is over know.
Re: Ticket Prices / Lions' Marketing
The Doan pursuit didn't pan out for the Canucks, but who knows, the optics of an active hockey player making a public appearance practically at the very hour the lockout starts tomorrow might drive some folks around the bend into some loud booing. Any other year but this one might have made this a good idea. Besides, I'm not even sure I'd trust the game day ops not to pull off this stunt while we're on offence and would prefer silence.jcalhoun wrote:Hey all,
So, Team 1040 is talking about nothing but Shane Doan right now, but I suppose it's a big story. Apparently he'll make a decision in the next few hours. If he does sign in Vancouver, I hope Wally gets on the phone and invites him to the game tomorrow. Get a Lions jersey with his name and number on it, have him in the Lions' box or on the sidelines. Wave to the crowd, a powder puff interview with Farhan on the sidelines, before the big introduction etc. with the Canucks. It'd be a PR coup for the Lions if they could manage it. And the Sunday papers would all have a picture of Doan wearing Lions' colours.
Cheers,
James
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

There's a poll — which will prob be gone before much longer — on teamradio on the best start time for Lions games, 1pm, 4pm or 7pm. 7pm has the edge at the moment, while apparently nobody has picked 1pm yet.

So I notice — I'm sure island folk like yourself would want some early starts on the sched and I felt likewise when I lived over there. It's a bit flawed in that they don't specify for which day of the week these start times would be for, but I'm assuming they're only considering for Sat/Sun games.Lions4ever wrote:Not anymore!sj-roc wrote:There's a poll — which will prob be gone before much longer — on teamradio on the best start time for Lions games, 1pm, 4pm or 7pm. 7pm has the edge at the moment, while apparently nobody has picked 1pm yet.

I picked 7. I'd choose 7:30 if they offered it, at least for Friday games to give people a better chance of getting there. That used to be a regular start time for all home games.Lions4ever wrote:Not anymore!sj-roc wrote:There's a poll — which will prob be gone before much longer — on teamradio on the best start time for Lions games, 1pm, 4pm or 7pm. 7pm has the edge at the moment, while apparently nobody has picked 1pm yet.

7:00 works for me
Re: Ticket Prices / Lions' Marketing
I like 4 00 pm on sat or sundays but also like the 7 00 pm night games of course with the roof open.

Re: Ticket Prices / Lions' Marketing
Quite frankly, these Saturday afternoon games are a disaster for minor and university ball.
Why this organization would play games concurrently with UBC, SFU and other levels of amateur football proves the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
BTW, Saskatchewan at UBC on HD 303/Shaw 4 today at 2pm if you're home in front of a TV. :-/

hi Jim, I think once in a whille the lions playing a afternoon game is good but not three in a row.
Re: Ticket Prices / Lions' Marketing
They normally change the poll question more quickly than this but I guess being the last one on a Friday, it's still up and taking responses; for how much longer I don't know — Mayenknecht's show, already started, usually generates a new one, although he just mentioned this game start topic as a talking point (called last week's attendance disappointing). The breakdown as I type:sj-roc wrote:There's a poll — which will prob be gone before much longer — on teamradio on the best start time for Lions games, 1pm, 4pm or 7pm. 7pm has the edge at the moment, while apparently nobody has picked 1pm yet.
1pm: 11.85%
4pm: 32.23%
7pm: 55.92%
