I think that both cuts should have been surprising based on the media attention given to both players, but because of your outstanding, inciteful reports, WE KNEW OTHERWISE...so thanks again...I like that Wally pushed Brown hard this camp...if there was one negative to Brown's game last year, it was a weaker mental game (which is part in parcel with being a rookie), which Wally recognized and made sure he was pushed this year...great to see that Brown has responded so well...

Again, thanks so much BC FAN...

Thanks for the kind words. I'm suffering from a strong feeling of camp withdrawl this week. Good thing there's a home game.

One more cut Tuesday, per LU. Again, not surprising with the arrival of the two ex-Argo all-stars.

Jerome Dennis always seemed to be pushed down the pecking order, yet from what I saw when he was in, he did a very good job. I expect him to find work quickly within the CFL, hopefully in the East. Best wishes to him and a thank-you to his contribution to the Lions.

I`m glad to hear the T. Brown is doing well. I thought his first half punt returning in the GC really gave the Lions an early edge especially with Lulay struggling a bit early on with `touch` on his passes.
I`d rather have a KR that is real reliable in catching the ball and always getting positive returns in favour of a KR who occasionally busts one but does not always get positive yardage.

I concur with Rammer on Dennis, he has been a good player every time with the Leos and I wish him the best as well...he came to camp ready to play, but there were just too many in front of him from the beginning.

Tim Brown = Ian Smart, Version 2.0

Both head up the field with a great burst and will invariably provide positive yards on kick and punt return, but neither a strong threat to take one to the house.

Both are reliable and versatile tailbacks who can get 5-6 yards a carry - may break one for 20 - but not likely to scamper for 40-50 yards on a carry. Both have good hands catching out of the backfield and decent, but not outstanding blockers.

Yonus Davis on the other hand??.... :bawl: There was a guy who could change field position in a hurry.

Too bad he brought ecstasy to more than just Lions fans.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

If Davis had stayed out of trouble he likely would have gone to the NFL as a KR like Stefon Logan, so no point loosing sleep over his departure although I imagine he might not sleep well these days.

Not to take this thread in an unintended direction, but it`s interesting that BC`s chief provincial health officer is saying that ecstasy in and of itself is harmless and its danger is in its criminalization. From today's Sun:

Dr. Perry Kendall asserts the risks of MDMA — the pure substance originally synonymous with ecstasy — are overblown, and that its lethal dangers only arise when the man-made chemical is polluted by money-hungry gangs who cook it up.

That's why the chief provincial health officer is advocating MDMA be legalized and sold through licensed, government-run stores where the product is strictly regulated from assembly line to check-out.

I've frequently commented that the "Controlled Drugs and Substances Act" is actually the exact opposite. As soon as a drug or substance makes that list it is now completely uncontrolled and out there in the wild and in the hands of the criminal element..they now have the control. It's a joke. Too bad the "tough on crime" (because that drivel polls well with Joe and Jane Six-Pack) nitwits in Parliament never clue in.

Sorry, just thought I'd toss that in as it hit the news today. Still, very dumb of Davis to risk a career for the potential of a quick buck. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Now, back to Kamloops.

I trust you mean "insightful" there - we've had enough other people writing posts to incite people, BC Fan's provide insight.

Not trying to risk derailing this thread further , but this begs a reply .
Tell me when we ever had a "tough on crime policy" ? You can't win a war on crime if you never even remotely had one in the first place . We've only ever had a" super soft on crime policy" no matter what party has run the show . Today's problems are the result of such policy.
No more comment from me on it here , needs it's own appropriate thread for such discussion.

Re: All things Kamloops Training Camp 2012

Regarding Yannick Sage...a bit of googling reveals that it appears that the Lions released him and he arranged a pre-camp tryout with the Alouettes...the fact that he doesn't show up on the Alouette training camp roster may indicate
that they didn't invite him to camp either...
