Anyone know if they will have the cable cam for the WDF?
It looked awesome at the BC Place opener on Sept 30. I hope they have it on Sunday! I assume it is TSN's decision, right?
Cable Cam for WDF??

Re: Cable Cam for WDF??
Unless they have two of these units — one for each DF — I'd guess the answer is no. It would come off awkward (and even biased) to have it for one game and not the other.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

It would make sense to install it before the West Final and use it for both that game and the Grey Cup though.sj-roc wrote:Unless they have two of these units — one for each DF — I'd guess the answer is no. It would come off awkward (and even biased) to have it for one game and not the other.

That makes sense, so you know it isn't going to happen.Ravi wrote:It would make sense to install it before the West Final and use it for both that game and the Grey Cup though.sj-roc wrote:Unless they have two of these units — one for each DF — I'd guess the answer is no. But isn't it already awkward and biased for TSN to have Rod Black at one game and Cuthbert / Suitor at the other.sj-roc wrote:Unless they have two of these units — one for each DF — I'd guess the answer is no. It would come off awkward (and even biased) to have it for one game and not the other.

After the Opener, Farhan Lalji tweeted it was going to be back for the playoffs, so we'll see.
Re: Cable Cam for WDF??
It sure adds quite a perspective. I haven't watched a CFL game on TV via the cable cam but it sure offered a lot on the instadium replay screen....
Re: Cable Cam for WDF??
The infrastructure for the cable cam is already set up at BC Place so it would be a disservice by TSN not to use it.
I would be surprised if they used such gear for the EDF in Winnipeg seeing as how there would be a lot more time and expense in setting it up.

Jamie Dykstra @CFL_PR, just tweeted that the cable cam has been installed for WF, Vanier Cup and Grey Cup.
Stay thirsty my friends.
Re: Cable Cam for WDF??
The official answer is "yes." To remain in place for the Vanier Cup and of course, the Grey Cup.
