Given that they also handed over a couple of games to the Lions, the debt is building.TheLionKing wrote:Imagine that, Braley's other team helping out his other team. Thank you, thank you.korey&dante4ever wrote:Thank you Argos!!!!

When Foley signed with the Argos he said wanted to play in front of friends and family, but I didn't think he meant that literally.

I didn't see the game, the Argos victory. Surprising result. Except that Calgary has been so inconsistent this year.
We stole their left side of the O Line. Ha ha ... Archibald and Newman. That's gotta hurt.
I also think that the league has caught up to the advantage that Head Coaches and Xs and Os guys, like Austin, Hufnagel and Trestman have enjoyed since 2007. Ball game on. We've seen that Jacques and Mike B can do Xs and Os with any of the coaches in the league, and Wally has allowed them to belatedly open up their playbooks.
Jim Barker is an Xs and Os guy. His struggles have been elsewhere. Quarterback personnel judgment for one.
He cast his lot with Cleo Lemon. And Jarious Jackson was there for the taking. D'oh ...
Gotta say, shout out to Wally: Can Wally pick QBs? Ummm, Yeah. Time after time.
It looks like Henry Burris is in some kind of funk this year. Frowns look good on Smilin' Hank. Ha ha

Huff has a tough decision to make about who starts at QB. With the Riders coming to town Hank will be hearing it from both Calgary and Saskatchewan fans alike. I think he's a QB that is easily rattled, and McMahon is going to be a hostile environment to him is he stumbles at all. On the other hand, lighting up Saskatchewan could be what he needs to get his groove back. I think he'll go with the veteran because it is so close to playoffs and if Tate does not work out down the stretch going back to a sulking Burris would be a disaster. On the other hand, Tate is already re-signed and the Stamps do consider him their future. So does the future start now in cow town?Rammer wrote:That has always seemed to be HB's achilles heal in the past, not wanting the pressure of the HC looking at the bench should he not be producing. It is close to being Tate's time in Calgary. It is one of those complicated "gut" decisions for Hufnagel. Time to take out the Ouija Board.Belize City Lion wrote:Huff has a tough decision to make about who starts at QB. I expect Hufnagel will play out this year with Burris.
Re: CFL Games of October 14, 15 and 16
This doesn't have to be a bad thing for the Stamps, IMO. I'd go with Burris. Give him a chance to play out his funk. If not Tate's there to fix things up. Obviously you want a home playoff game but beyond that you are in the playoffs. I'd much rather have Huf's problems instead of picking between Glenn/Porter, or pretty much any other teams starting two. Look at what the Riders may be doing. Starting a guy with a broken foot because he's their only hope of keeping slim hopes alive....

If Burris has another half like he did yesterday, the future is now.Belize City Lion wrote:

Steven Jyles is just not that good of a Qb, the fact Barker is beating so heavily on him, after doing the same with Lemon, will probably be his downfall in Toronto.WestCoastJoe wrote:I didn't see the game, the Argos victory. Surprising result. Except that Calgary has been so inconsistent this year.

Argos defeat the Stamps. Big surprise. Stamps so inconsistent.
Eskimos beating the Bombers. Not that much of a surprise. The Eskmos are pretty good. The Bombers perhaps not quite as good as their early season record.
TiCats making it very, very close vs the Alouettes. Not a surprise. It looked like the TiCats got jobbed on a non-call on Cox for Pass Interference. Early contact. Not looking back for the ball. Blocking the vision. Et cetera.
Lions over the Riders. Very close game. Down until Spiderman makes one helluva play. And then Harris makes one helluva play.

More proof that what you do in July/August probably won't show how you play in the home stretch? Then again, teams playing well now are not guaranteed to be playing the last game of the year.....
IMO, the biggest surprise was how close the Riders/Lions game was until late. Of course the Boatmen knocking off the Stamps ala a late field goal was a close second on the

The Bombers improved to 6-1 when they manhandled BC back on Aug. 13 at Empire to drop the Lions to 1-6. They now have identical 9-6 records. Simply amazing!!!
Getting more and more clear the Eskimos visit here on Oct. 29 will decide 1st place thanks to the Stamps stumbling in TO. The Lions can afford one more loss as long as it's not against Edmonton and still clinch.
Montreal can wrap up first in the East with a win at Winnipeg on Friday as that would give them a 4 point lead and the season series. Should it happen, it will be another painful reminder to Bomber fans of the Riders' banjo bowl sweep.

Lions vs Riders ... one of those games that are a bit scary. The Riders about dead, but shooting their bullets, nothing to lose. If we had gone up on them early, they might have folded. But we were not playing great for three quarters. Ultimately the team that has been winning found a way to win. The team that has been losing found a way to lose. But it was tough.notahomer wrote:WestCoastJoe wrote:Argos defeat the Stamps. Big surprise. Stamps so inconsistent.

I recall the years when Roy Shivers ran the Riders. They were very tough to play, and very tough for us to defeat. Tillman and Austin brought the Riders to a high level. It looks like they have lost that. Miller now seems to be just an old, tired grandfather type, spoiling his grandchildren. I thought he was a pretty good football guy until he allowed that Darian Durant business to get rid of Marshall and Berry. Not good ...
