I have to admit what the Lions did made sense to me at the time. A few vets did report in the media that they got worked TOO HARD in training camp and it left them soft for the 2010 season. Now, I'm guessing that the work efforts maybe wasn't the problem last year. IIRC, the Lions recently had a rainy training camp were lots of practices were rained out. IIRC, that season started a little rusty too. Oh well, hopefully Wally's gut is right, we've hit rock bottom. This time last year our mantra was we've won one more than the Eskimos, this year maybe it can be 'we are tied for the last playoff spot with the Riders'.Toppy Vann wrote: ...
They set the tone in TC with tough hitting and ball hawking and the Lions listened to the vets and went soft.

I finally got to watch the game today ...had company last nite...my observations: First On quite a few of Lulay's incompletions there was someone in his face and he was lucky to get rid of the ball...The D and O lines had their moments which is encouraging. Tackling was still suspect....I think the game was lost on two key plays....the interception when we were moving the ball in the 3rd quarter really hurt....and Geroy's fumble....saw a few signs of improved play calling...a bit of innovation in the run offense even though the plays didn't pan out too well certainly shows that they were trying to get the run game going. Now that we have put these three opponents behind us we should start to play better and win...and winning will build confidence so the next time we play the 3 best teams we will give them a run for their money or even beat them. It starts on Friday. Go Lions!

And yet BC beat Calgyra 29-10 and 36-31 to finish out the season series last season.MacNews wrote:
Before a Calgary game last year, the Stampeder players said they knew our offensive plays. And guess what? During the game they'd call out our plays and match us. It's 2011 now, and the situation is the exact same.

The Stamps are having enough trouble with their own plays this year, let alone knowing anyone else's. Their offence trails the Lions in yardage, first downs and average gain per pass and rush and Burris trails Lulay in passing yardage and touchdowns. Yet the Stamps have a lot more experience at quarterback and receiver. It must be inferior coaching that's holding them back.Lions4ever wrote:And yet BC beat Calgyra 29-10 and 36-31 to finish out the season series last season.MacNews wrote:

First off the game that the Calgary players boasted about knowing the Lions plays was the WDF in Calgary when Logan was are loan offensive weapon.B.C.FAN wrote:The Stamps are having enough trouble with their own plays this year, let alone knowing anyone else's. Secondly, it is also good to point out that the Stamps without as much statistics in their favour are 2 - 1, whereas the Lions are 0 - 3. I wonder which team you would consider to have the better Coaching.

They have a make shift O Line. Burris is playing poorly.
The most important stat IMO is wins and losses.
Just IMO, BCFAN.

True, but stats can help identify the factors behind those wins and losses. The B.C. offence ranks third in the league. The B.C. defence ranks eighth. Fix the defence, fix the record.WestCoastJoe wrote:The most important stat IMO is wins and losses.

Again you are utilizing the stats to your point. Perhaps if the Lions O could sustain drives in the first half, the D wouldn't be as gassed and move up the ladder in ranking. This is a team game and I don't think that identifying one aspect is what is happening, the D does need to tackle better, past that I am alright with what I have seen from them (not the decision by the coaching staff to just put 4 DL on the 42 man roster for the Eskimo game though). As for the offence, the Lions produce even better stats if they can run the ball when the other team is expecting it, that is a huge area of concern and has been for several seasons now.B.C.FAN wrote:True, but stats can help identify the factors behind those wins and losses. Bombers were number 1 in many defensive categories last season, yet were 4-14.
Stats can be misleading ....74% of people know that

I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

The Daily Show (Jon Stewart) did an awesome riff mashup of polls/stats concerning the current debt issues facing the US government. A riot, IMO. Each talking head able to prove their perspective using polls/stats.
