Game day.
A big test right off the bat.
Many indications the Lions are a better team than last year. Good talent. Coaching adjustments. Good leadership amongst the players.
Thin in their Non Import depth at D Line and Linebacker IMO. Could use a backup to Brent Johnson or a starting NI D Lineman. Or another NI Linebacker of near equal talent to James Yurichuk. Somewhat limited in ratio options IMO. Safety a concern. Jason Arakgi has had some excellent seasons on STs. But safety is a new position to him.
A good chance to knock off the Grey Cup champs nevertheless.

A Thursday game-day thread created on Tuesday night? Someone is anxious for the season to start.

You must excuse WCJ. He's probably enjoying a few cool ones.

Thought the game was Wednesday. Ha ha
Waited until the wee first hour of Wednesday morning to start the thread.
We could chuck this thread out and let someone start one tomorrow, errr Thursday, errr ... Whatever ...
Definitely keen for the season to start.
At practice on Monday, the whole time I was thinking travel day Tuesday, play Wednesday.
Another whole day to wait. Gawdddd ...

Nice scheduling quirk too, IMO. I'm so used to getting Montreal either in home/home's or the games seperated by a short time (week/two). This year we open IN Montreal and close out the regular season in BC Place against Montreal.
Regarding our recievers I think the Buono strategy of past would have been to go with the Vets and if they stumble cut them loose. Nice to know we've got a Canadian (Petersen) and an import (Black) waiting for their shot. We won't get to see them Thursday and to be honest, I hope we don't need them. But if we do, I'm happy with either coming onto the field in future games.

Know the smallest things and the biggest things, the shallowest things and the deepest things. As if it were a straight road mapped out on the ground ... These things cannot be explained in detail. From one thing, know ten thousand things. When you attain the Way of strategy there will not be one thing you cannot see. You must study hard.

I know Black had some drops in preseason, and I am anxious to see what Moore can do, but man, I sure like Black's touchdown to reception ratio!notahomer wrote:Regarding our recievers I think the Buono strategy of past would have been to go with the Vets and if they stumble cut them loose. That's the bottom line for me. Possession receivers? We've got those. But certain receivers have a knack for putting it in the endzone for 6. Black seems to be one of those guys.

There is just something wrong with the Lions going into Montreal and giving them their first lose right off.
I'm sure Rammer will know what I'm talking about.

It's early David, and I'm sure we're going to see a lot turnstiling with the receivers this year. I'll wager a Black td yet this year.David wrote:

That's only after we give the ball to Robertson for a 1 yard gain, right?JohnHenry wrote:I'd like to see Hyland, Arakgi and Reddick, the 3 Amigos in the back line. I'd bet opposing receivers would get a serious case of "alligator arms" going over the middle.
I wouldn't worry too much about the receivers, there job is easy, especially in our offence. Just go out 7 yards and stand there, then catch the ball and fall down. The question is can the QB get them the ball? Which I think Lulay will be able to behind our revamped OL.![]()
So the Lions should be able to chew up and spit out the flightless Larks on Thursday:
Lions 37 Als 26

Roar you Lions roar!
