B.C. Lions HC Wally Buono has decided to register the contract of FA receiver Kamau Peterson following a tryout with the CFL team.

It sounds like Wally deems Kamau healthy enough to register his contract. A good development IMO. Whatever Peterson has left, we could use. His experience is invaluable at this point. A possession type receiver. I am so hopeful our young guys, Gore, Foster and Iannuzzi will come through for us. I expect they will.B.C.FAN wrote:Tweeted today by Mike Beamish:B.C. Meant to ask you WCJ, or anyone, will Peterson replace O'Neil Wilson at wide side Wr?

Slotback for Paris. Dunno though. I have hardly ever watched Peterson play. Not enough speed for wideout methinks. Possession guy.
In the case of O'Neil methinks they should have renamed that position. Decoy Right. Or Far Out Right. That is mean, perhaps. I kind of think we never gave Wilson enough work. After a while he didn't really want the ball, and the D barely gave him any notice.

Thanks, Wilson's lack of production was one of the reasons why I thought maybe sticking Peterson out there could only improve the situation.WestCoastJoe wrote:My guess, ed ...ed_lunsford wrote:Meant to ask you WCJ, or anyone, will Peterson replace O'Neil Wilson at wide side Wr?

Not sure if a speed guy goes out there or if a possession/sure to get open type would make more sense as IDK if Lulay really has the arm to power the ball out to the far hashmark.

Re: Official 2011 Training Camp Thread
You need speed guys at the WR position to stretch the defence and create space for the SB's and RB's..........Ianuzzi seems like a good fit......you need a young guy who can run fly patterns all day long and present a legitimate deep threat.

In a nutshell that pretty much sums up what's wrong with the Lions offence. We have a guy who lacks speed, yet he's in the lineup running decoys. Defence knows it and practically ignores him, yet the Lions keep running the same thing year after year.WestCoastJoe wrote:

Yes, according to LU, Wally expects Peterson to stick at wide side WR.ed_lunsford wrote:Meant to ask you WCJ, or anyone, will Peterson replace O'Neil Wilson at wide side Wr?
LinkPeterson took a majority of his reps as the wide-side wideout, where Buono said he would likely land.

Well thanks! Make sense in a way, Peterson will likely face man to man out on the wide side he should be able to make some hay, at least moreso then Wilson did.B.C.FAN wrote:Yes, according to LU, Wally expects Peterson to stick at wide side WR.ed_lunsford wrote:Meant to ask you WCJ, or anyone, will Peterson replace O'Neil Wilson at wide side Wr?LinkPeterson took a majority of his reps as the wide-side wideout, where Buono said he would likely land.
Granted that is counter intuitive, but Lulay is not likely to throw to the wide side often so a possession type who is sure to get open maybe is more effective then a younger Wr running fly patterns that never sees the ball.
Fella at Lionsden reported Paul Edgson is no longer with the team, pity really but that is how it goes.

Re: Official 2011 Training Camp Thread
The way I see it Lulay can run a waggle to the wide side of the field off of a fake dive and instead of throwing the ball to O'Neil Wilson, he now has Kaumu Peterson to target which should be a far more effective then Wilson and his 300 yds in 18 games.TheLionKing wrote:In a nutshell that pretty much sums up what's wrong with the Lions offence. And did anyone else happen to catch Travis Lulay's Wally Buono impression?
"Just throw it to the open guy, throw to Geroy, see, it is easy, just throw it to the open man"
Hopefully Lulay does it again sometime because it is quite funny...

Re: Official 2011 Training Camp Thread
I was at yesterday's morning practice. Peterson was mostly lining up as a right side wide out and didn't appear to me to have any limp. P. Jackson was in shorts and sweat shirt and did some stationary bike and jogged around the track a couple of times with a slight limp.
