Not really sure, we are both in our early 40's and married (but will be without wives ... hehehe .... just kidding). We saw that link above in this thread about that bar that looked really cool. I guess sightseeing/natural wonders. I think we would be the old men at the club, so not really our scene anymore. Just wanna play tourist and occupy our time while up there. Just really wanted to know if you knew a friend was coming to town, is there anything you would say, "Oh, man you gotta see this when you come up!", or even something local. Like if you ever visit Philadelphia, PA you would have to get a cheese steak, if you ever went to Buffalo (poor bastard) you would have to have Buffalo wings. If you ever come to Florida, you have to see Disney World, or the Space Needle in Seattle. What is Vancouver's claim to fame? We can find our way around as a general tourist, but just wanted some pointers from folks who live there. I'm already checking out the game which will be the highlight of my short visit, just wanted to see if there was anything else that I definitely should not miss.

Bob, we appreciate the offer, but I think we wanna explore a little more on our own. I will definitely be stopping by to meet at the tailgate. We can work out how to find each other as the day gets closer. I hope my Verizon phone works up there..... not sure about that. It would be great to meet some of you guys.

Queen Elizabeth Park. It's an ancient volcanic site that has been a city floral garden. It has an elevated view of the city and also has a conservatory with tropical plants and animals.

English Bay. There are dozens of restaurants and a sea walk that goes into and around Stanley Park.

Stanley Park may be the landmark Vancouver is most known for.

Granville Island. Used to be an industrial site. Now it's restaurants, markets, street musicians and artists of all genres.

Gastown is another area which is interesting, antique stores, artists and so on.

Google Earth Vancouver and take a commuter stroll around at some of these areas. The inner city is not that large an area compared to many US cities, but there is a lot of things to see.

You can rent bicycles at a number of shops near the park entrance, and this really is the quintessential Vancouver experience. From Stanley Park it is an easy walk along the Coal Harbour waterfront (or the Robson Street shopping corridor) to Gastown, the historic heart of the city, where those bars I recommended earlier are waiting for you.

I second those suggestions as well. At Grouse, you take a cable car up to the mountaintop ski area, which has spectacular views and lots of amenities. I always like to take visitors out hiking in the rain forest, but I appreciate your time is limited and the Suspension Bridge is a good (if rather touristy) shortcut to see some big trees. Both are on the northern side of Burrard Inlet, across the water from downtown - you would need a rental car, but it's only a half hour's drive.

As for food - arguably the sushi in Vancouver is the best in the world, with top quality chefs AND the advantage of relatively cheap and fresh local ingredients. A local newspaper worked out that we actually have more sushi restaurants that we do Starbucks. In fact we have about a gazillion of each.

The other great local dish is fresh wild salmon, particularly barbequed aboriginal-style with brown sugar glaze. To die for, especially with a Granville Island Pale Ale.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I'll definitely be checking some of those out. I have been looking for any CFL on DirecTV but I dont see much on it at the moment. Hopefully I can find out more as the season gets closer....

If you go into CFL.ca and look under SCHEDULE you'll see an option for US Broadcasts. It hasn't been updated yet for the 2010 season but at some point it will provide a list of available services.
